Once Marc went into decline the radio stations deserted him, I remember this was a David Hamilton record of the week on Radio one and should have been massive. He never got the acclaim he deserved in his life time but for me Marc was the best pop star this country has ever produced, a genius taken way to soon. RIP Marc

+lanalife She wasn't drunk or on drugs. Read the Police report. The officer who reported the accident ruled it just that.. an accident. Apparently the tyre had been recently changed and it wasn't put back on properly causing steering problems. More tragedy was his house being ransacked within hours of his death. Educated guess would say his brother did that.
@gweimer7 жыл бұрын
According to an interview with Gloria Jones (and I recall this in the papers, too), it was fans who ransacked their apartment, taking anything for a souvenir. Word spread fast about Marc's death.

@@allyk2196 Witnesses say she was driving that Mini like a bat out of hell.She went over that humpback bridge too fast and got airborne. That explains why the damage was high up the fence. Have you seen the photo's? How fast do you think you would have to be going to do that much damage to a steel 70's model Mini ? The whole chassis twisted and buckled and the seats were ripped off where they were bolted to the floor. The chassis has been pushed back almost half the length of the car on Marc's side. First reports said Marc was crushed by the front of the car being forced in to the back seat. Look for yourself.Although it turns out Marc was thrown out of the car through the buckled door which would have flung open on impact and died of the head injury when he hit his head on the bolt in the chainlink fence. In some photo's you can see some of Marc's hair dangling on the top of the door frame. The car flattened the fence and the tree behind the fence stopped it going over the bank. Gloria's brother was following them, Marc was dead on the road and Gloria was flung out and was on the bonnet moaning when they got there. It's all documented. Evidence says she's guilty and so do the police. Thats why she left the country and has never been back.She'd go to jail for it. it was early in the morning and they had been drinking all night at a party held by Rod Steward - with numerous witnesses who all said so. The facts are, even if it was Marc meeting his destiny that night - she's culpable of manslaughter, by speeding and driving while drunk and tired. Remorse, she has none. All she has is poor me. Destroyer.

You know I've been watching the 1st - 2 seasons of Twin Peaks and think the Actor who played Leo Johnson could be Marc Bolan reborn but of course by that matter so could Johnny Depp , Jack White or Russell Brand ...but now that I think about it boy it is intriguing to think it could be Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day! As a laugh however I will say the keyboard player could have played the cowardly lion in the wizard of oz lol

So who knows what he is singing about? Let us break bread. It makes me realise that Bowie was derivative. Blue Jean. If is pretty melancholy though, and a far cry from the ebullience of Bang a Bong, Hot Love and Jeepster. He says he is not such a bad boy, but he seems to be feeling guilty. Another couple of years and he might have become a Christian.
@suep38064 жыл бұрын
Its another love song to his one true love and muse June - his wife.She damaged and scarred the soul of his "meat suit" She pulled his love out by the roots when she left him- and she was the one that did the leaving, she was not an enabler...She ravaged the runes of his tunes...the messages (runes are messages) of all of his tunes of love he wrote and sung for her over his career... he's telling her he knows why she left and he's not really such a bad boy...perhaps she would forgive him and come back. Marc's mother wanted June to go and collect him and pull him back into line, but she'd had enough. Marc was trying to break America and thought Gloria could be the Tina to his Ike. Gloria thought she'd hang onto him by supplying him with booze and drugs and enabling him to be an addict and by getting pregnant...because she knew June was his soul mate too. Marc would have gone back to June - if he'd lived. He knew she wasn't such a bad girl that he couldn't go back one day. June even said that in an interview after his death, that they had a connection that was never broken even after his death and thats why their divorce was never finalised.She always knew he'd be back, but he died.

This song is average, at most, given you’re not a hardcore Bolanist as I once was. There are many videos here on YT and most comments are fan like, friendly or respectful. But, let me tell you things were a little bit different nearly half a century ago. There were many youngsters who simply l o v e d him (!) , which he adored so much, and his music. As one guy commented here on YT to another vid: nothing beats what this man created from 1968 to 1972. I agree ( to 1973 I would say). But later on? Whatsoever, there were lots of T.Rex haters, literally, out there. They regarded him and his music as teeny bopper girl only oriented lollipop music, nearly worthless and not to be taken seriously. When someone of my age or older asked: hey , what music are you in currently? The answer was anything except T.Rex. Your reputation would have blown in the wind otherwise. He was considered on par with Sweet, Slade, D. Cassidy and Bay City Rollers. The young Intelligentsia those days heard Deep Purple, LED Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Uriah Heep etc. Bolan? A nothing. Things went worse when he thought to promote himself best was to go deeper and deeper into cross dressing and effeminacy. Not one of the young guys with a bit of IQ and s e l f r e s p e c t liked him. Get it on , ok quite good but T. Rex was a serious no go,, no way then. And at the end of the seventies from 1975/76 on most regarded him a clown now. Bowie in stark contrast becoming the world wide respected superstar. Why? Everything. The personality, the music, his voice, too many seriously disliked him. And the pool of hardcore fans melted down since 1973/74. Heavy losses. And one of the losses was me ;).
