"Citizens of Peach Trees, this is the law..." (2:27)
More info Below!
One of my personal favourite scenes in the movie, though second of course to the brilliant announcement made later on in the film where Dredd places judgement upon Mama. This is definitely a highly underrated film and I recommend it to any fans of the sci-fi/action genre though it's 18 rating should be noted.
"Citizens of Peach Trees, this is the law. Disperse immediately or we will use lethal force to clear the area. You have been warned. You now have 20 seconds to comply."
"It's you doing the complying judge. There's 10 of us, and only 2 of you. Why don't you step out from behind that doorway or we're gonna blow the f*ck outta ya."
"10 seconds to comply."
"You got 5."
"Thanks for the heads up."
Let's celebrate the greatest movie reboot of recent times, though 'Robocop' may yet take the title.

It's underrated because of how it performed at the box office. Lionsgate failed at marketing the movie EVEN THOUGH IT HAD CRITICAL ACCLAIM FROM CRITICS. To this day, Dredd is THE best 3D film I have ever seen, because it wasn't used as a gimmick and instead made the film that much better. What's even more amazing is that I saw the film in an empty theater.

@@1who4me not all movies has sequels. But to answer your question, it’s because it’s a business. They make money. If a film makes money then the studio is taking less of a risk to spend money on a sequel that people are more likely to go to. Fact is, probably around half of all movies made lose money. Studios are always going out of business, or being bought out. Lastly, I’m aware all your questions were rhetorical but if you really didn’t know, that’s the answer. Lol Dredd was awesome. To this day I still can not fathom how good of a movie this was. That Hollywood actually produced this masterpiece is kind of mind boggling to me. It actually shows how to build up character while having fun with all the goriness. Dredd is not the lead, Anderson is. She's the one we can sympathize with, who we cheer for, who we are able to connect and identify with. And with this the movie succeeds where all the new "female lead - movies" fail. Plus, Urban plays Dredd so convincingly that I really just want to give him a hug.

If you're going to take some liberties with the source material, this is how you do it! This movie may not have been 100% accurate to the comics, but it was a GREAT film to watch, and very entertaining. I'd like to think it caught the "spirit" of who Dredd is, and I like the story they created here for Dredd and Anderson. It's super paired-down from what the Stallone movie was, but that's why I think it works so much better. It's a much more personal story with higher stakes, more grounded stakes. I love how no matter how badly their lives are in danger, Dredd never lets go that this is her assessment, but the ending shows that no matter how hard Dredd is, there is a heart beating under that jacket and it's one that grew to respect Anderson during this adventure.

She kills him before the audience is shown he has a family. Cassandra can no doubt tell that he is thinking of his family, but we in the audience can only deduce that later - after the protagonists meet that family. So, it's not possible to know it on first viewing. The emotional impact comes later, when we find out why Cassandra hesitated. And its after his wife has decided to help them, purely out of concern for her family (she doesn't know it's already too late, much less that she's helping the very person who killed her husband). But we can be sure that this is a formative incident that will stick with Cassandra. She can't just follow the book. Her abilities mean that she can and must dispense judgement in a different way.

If TV series, then it should be as well written and shot as example Dexter 1-4 seasons were. Just 12 episodes and each was worth a movie. Nothing about 22-23 episodes crap that gets filled with itself, but to the point and exact miniseries. I would see a good 4-6 episode day for it. But I would like to see 1-2 movies about the same, just different stories. It doesn't need to tie anything to this movie, just get going in the world of Judge Dredd.

@@paristo The 20+ episode per season template is really outdated. Only reserved for sitcoms and adventure of week tv series now.
@paristo
@paristo Жыл бұрын
@@MannYSJ1080p There are many shows that benefits from weekly episode and 20+ episodes per season. But it is not anymore the standard, and it is good. As we have got better written series because the idea to offer just 6-12 episodes per season. As I mentioned Dexter is one that really ironed that 12 episode season where every episode was excellent, but then now we have some like Star Wars Mandalorian that can be with void in each episode that just doesn't really do much in 8 episodes per season. Some episodes are great, and then might be two that are just dull and it is easy to see that time is consumed to get episode length completed. 20+ episode shows like example Star Trek TNG and Deep Space 9 or Stargate SG-1 are shows that had like 1-2 such dull episodes per season. The real problem comes in those that if you buy a whole series, you have like 10 seasons with 22 or 23 episodes on each, so easily 220 episodes to watch. So much effort and time was put on each character on their development that you only really understand the small gestures and interactions between people when you have seen previous seasons, as character development is so complex and time consuming. But if someone has excellent story, characters etc. I would not like to see a normal 20+ episode TV series from it if the production can't be done properly. And that is really about the sets where to shoot and set them to be different. This is easy to notice in these 10 season shows where you watch them from DVD in marathon, that how much same sets they have been reusing in same season, but little differently, like painting grey rock cave to brown, and then to white with fake ice coverage. If watching the show one episode per week, you don't really notice it when there is 3-5 weeks separation. But considering Judge Dredd, it is just not possible be made as 20+ show as how does one fill the times when JD goes somewhere etc? One movie is not enough at that production quality, but want to see a 2-3 movie trilogy? Okay, could work... Each different stories with loose connection. But I could take a 6 episode mini series, each episode have a 50-60 min length. As then you get production to run well, but you can as well have one longer story told better. Still, I think a 2-3 movies would work better when you could have a different story on each, and make 2 hours for each. As then you can avoid lot of dull moments and try to fill void with something.

One of the best action movies that I've ever seen ... been a Judge Dredd fan for decades and I never thought they would make a film to do it 'justice'. Would have made the helmets a bit smaller and close fitting, but other than that, it was a masterpiece of sci-fi cyberpunk (though not much 'cyber' in it) violent dystopia. Disappointed that Netflix didn't follow through with their planned series.
