This is how you show a good female character. We don’t base our opinions of Ma-Ma or Anderson on the fact that they’re female. They aren’t shown to be overly strong, or overly weak. They’re drawn as equals to the men, but not in a tryhard way. They’re just there. Doing their jobs. Shown the same respect as their male counterparts. If Anderson had been male, Dredd would’ve treated her the same. Same as Ma-Ma.

My favorite scene is when Dredd turns to the rookie and asks her if she is ready? She replies she is and Dredd says, "You look ready." Huge contrast from where she was in the beginning of the movie when he asks her the same question. She answers the same but Dredd replied, "You don't look ready."

Langley Kirkwood as Judge Lex is as good as Urban portraying Judge Dredd. He's so expressive with his tone and lower facial expressions and general body language in this scene as he gloats over Dredd. One of the highlight scenes in the film IMO. Lex presents as just as much a force of nature in his own way, as Dredd- the latter of whom triumphs only due to a small bit of strategy plus dumb luck on his part. Just another example of what makes this movie so epic. And the lines that Lex speaks- simple words, but such excellent writing. Kirkwood sells it.

A movie I can watch over and over again. Karl Urban nails the character of Judge Dredd. I was a fan of the 2000 AD comic books. This was so much closer than the previous movie. The introduction of Judge Anderson was fantastic.

While I really liked them movie the one thing that really bugged me was this part. There is way too much of a gap between when Dredd says "Wait" and when Lex gets shot. Its almost 40 seconds, which means he lucked out with her arriving. If he had seen her (without us seeing) and he was shot 5 seconds later because she had to get a better angle it would have been better.

I kinda think he had a legitimate fear of death. Maybe he would have asked why? Or tried to argue for the city? I also think he suspected she might escape when she got lead off with a single goon instead of executed on the spot, and hoped buying any time at all might help. In the end he just got very lucky with her timing.

It comes down to money. The R rating scares off some people The comic book origin scares off some more people. The 95 Dredd movie scared off more still. With all that, it ended up costing more than it made in the box office. Given that sequels also scare off viewers, it wont make enough to justify a sequel. Sadly, DVD sales don't do as much for potential movie investors because it actually did pretty well on that front.

Possible. That, or he trusted her to have his back. Knowing Dredd tho, I suppose their short "mind-talk" more likely. He doesn't look like a trusting guy. Also, he had this moment before Lex started shooting through the wall, when he was almost still. Maybe he was considering his options, but seeing as he usually thinks and acts fast (Dredd vs Chen, Dredd vs Mama) I suppose that something else could take his attention. It's up to the watcher, I guess.

yeah, a simple switch button to change ammo type would have made more sense but shouting the name the the ammo type is pretty damn cool with a deep rough voice as the one from Karl Urban. I love the part how Dredd says Incendiary and all the goons burn to death. this movie is awesome.

The scene is cool, but I feel Dredd would 100% know exactly how much ammo of which kind he had left, he wouldn´t need to check in the midst of battle. I get why they chose to relay the information this way, it makes for a dramatic moment, but it doesn´t perfectly fit the character.
