As Dredd and Judge Anderson attempt to find a way to survive and escape from Peachtrees Mama is able to corner them on one level with three Gatling Guns, is it finally enough to take out Dredd?

A telling touch in this entire sequence is how at no point does Dredd stop to warn citizens to seek shelter, stay back, or follow him when he retreats. Not even the children. It's a stark reminder that the Judges prime directive is to punish, not to serve the public. Dredd would of course accurately record how many citizens died at the clan's hands, and would take those deaths into account when sentencing them - yet he wouldn't actually do much, if anything, to prevent those deaths beforehand. That's not his job. It comes to the forefront at the end when Anderson actually stops to rescue and assist a civilian and Dredd demands to hear her reasoning for doing this. He does allow her to proceed - her rationale is acceptable and it even factors in to Dredd passing her appraisal. But again, Dredd, following protocol to the letter, is concerned only with whether the individual should be punished, not with offering aid.
@V742 Жыл бұрын
I doubt many people would listen to a Judge, even in that scenario. They're already taking cover and hiding without any directive. Dredd has possibly tried this in the past without success, or it has prompted people to follow him when they probably shouldn't. Getting people to follow him would be a death sentence for them. He offers no aid because really, he can't beyond eliminating threats. Offering aid is a paramedic's job.

100% - people say this movie misses the essence of the comics, and whilst the distinctly British satirical edge isn't *as* pronounced as it is in 2000AD I really think they nailed this characterisation of Dredd.

Imagine how terrifying this is as a common street thug. You hear that two Judges have entered the building, and the building enters lockdown. This should be an easy affair. But then, you lose contact with ground floor squads. Then mid floor squads. Then, as your commander slowly starts to panic, you bring out the big guns and shred and entire floor. The cacophony of noise is insane. Concrete disintegrates like it was made out of foam. You expend all of your ammunition, and the floor is practically destroyed. Then, out of the smoke and rubble, emerges a judge, dragging the body of a thug. You just razed an entire block to the ground, pumped enough lead into that floor to give people on ground level cancer, and this guy just emerges from it without a scratch. This is the moment that you realize, when you locked down those doors, you weren't trapping him in there with you, you were trapping yourself in there with him.

Actually, those aren't Chain guns. They were using, what is called a Gatling gun or Minigun. It does use an external power source to cycle it's action, like a Chain gun and I think that might be why some people are confused about which is which. I always tell them that a Minigun's power source cycles multiple barrels, whereas a Chain gun's power source drives a chain that cycles cartridges, which are all discharged through it's one and only barrel.

the most realistic scene in cinematic history,escaping from 12000 rounds per min. edit:for 10000 peoples in the comment,thats not a minigun. miniguns are smallest member in gatling guns family which fire 7.62 mm rounds the ones you see here appears to be 12.7 mm.

It’s created in an entirely new era with updated technology. I feel like they’re both great but this one just expounded on the size/geography of judges/regular people/citizens. They need a part 2 of this movie now explaining mutants/showing the girls side of the story kicking ass.
