Hi Kevin. Thanks for the nice comment, and yes indeed it seems like a giant screw on the Emco :D Will be probably the largest thing I will ever turn on this lathe... But I had it lying around and nothing to screw onto so I decided it to use this way. I will make one more video showing turning between centers (again an old screw) and using the milling option of the SL. Then I will finish the "Emco-Series" - I don't want to bore my subscribers :D Greetings Adrian

Hi Adrian Don't stop making videos with the unimat, when I said let it have a good rest I tried to say let it have good sleep after such hard work :) I think you should show all the operations that it can perform. Greetings Kevin

Hi Kevin Yes, I got it like that - but for people which aren't experienced in turning etc get bored if there is "Unimat Part 1, Part 2, ..." So I try to compress things... The circular saw, the coping saw, and the grinding machine are too slow/ not strong enough for use with metal... Thus, the Grinding Stone-Dust will ruin the precision parts due to its abrasive influence... But the saws are okay for wood. So I'll be showing it as a mill and some additional stuff with the lathe. Greetings Adrian

Hi Adrian That M20 screw looks massive in your Emco lathe ;) but it seems to cope quite easily with the task you gave it! I hope you will now let it have a good rest :D Good choice of music, great production, keep up the good work! Greetings Kevin

Yes, it is one of the smallest lathes available (apart from those for watchmakers) But it has all the equipment (will upload a video from it as a mill soon - if you are interested), you can turn between centers, it has a steady rest, 4 jaw chuck, and all that - the only thing it doesn't have is an automatic feed and quick-change box - but for those sizes, dies will work fine... and you need a good trained arm :-) Greetings Adrian

OK, I wish you good luck for the purchase, hope you will get it! It is a very nice machine if you know her limits. The largest diameter with the jaws mounted like in this clip is 25mm (thats shown in the clip BTW - the jaws were about 2mm away from hitting the ways), with the jaws inverted you can go up to 50mm. All the best Adrian

Hi there, thanks for the subscription! 150 € is a good price for the Unimat - what kinds of accessory comes with it? Things you should look for are spair belts as the original ones tend to snap quite quickly, but you can buy a length of belting via Ebay, you can simply cut the desired length off and melt it together, that holds forever. Else, of course the bearings should be OK and the slide should not have play, but when you clean it after every use, you've got a tool forever! Cheers Adrian

Hey Keith. You have great vids.love to watch, how creative you are.I have a Lorch,a big watchmaker lathe, and a smal Emco 3 unimat too,but you wil be amazed, what you can do with it.almost anything, only two rules! must be smal, and no rush :-) I make pistons for my model engines, very accurate to a 5/1000 of a mm. Miniature conrods for model diesel engines with 1 cc volume etc..Runing engines ofcourse! Keep posting your work a lot inspiration for a lot peopel! regards from the NetherlandsI Peter

Thanks for the reply, it really helps! Concerning the accesories I have no idea if he has something extra than the base setup in the photos. I still haven't talked to the guy, he's 50km from my town so if I go to see it I will probably buy it. Thanks again, if I get it I'll let you know :)

Hallo Peter.

Groetjes

amazing what a smal machine can do! you shoud reduce the speed Adrian, the diameter is too big,and its steel. With half the speed and maeby moore power when you use reductions, wil cut far better, but as final last cut, high speed is good! Keep doing experiments and learn..like I learn also when I was at your age and m first smal lathe! :-) Tot ziens mennertje! Regards P&P

Hey Adrian, I like your videos and I subbed :) I'm looking to buy a mini lathe, but here in Macedonia so far I only found Einhell MTB3000 but it's out of my budget (here it cost 650 euros). However, I found a second hand Unimat Emco SL 1000, so should I get it? The guy is asking 150 euros, what do you think? Is it expensive? What shoul I be careful about when looking it? Thanks!

Also einfach ein bisschen abwarten, irgendwann kommt dann was rund um 400 Euro. Gruß Adrian

How many inches is chuck? And how many watts is motor?
@AstraWerke

The Chuck is right around 2", the Motor pulls about 60 Watt, later Models had 80.
