I'm confused a bit..What if we want to get fit overall and not be out of breath so quickly in general (i guess it's called endurance), what kind of exercise should we do and still get to limit stress?

Thanks. I’m taking your advice and cutting down on cardiovascular to just stressing the joints and tendons a bit but without any significant breathlessness. The HIIT I reserve for my favourite equipment, the rowing machine.

My epiphany was the Mark Sisson brand of paleo, primal. 2x low carb meals, lift heavy things and HIIT. Your accessible advice has helped too. 👍💪

Dr. Sten Ekberg, Thank you for your videos, they have been very helpful. I'm trying to understand cardio vs. HIIT. In another video, you noted that anaerobic exercise burns sugar vs. aerobic which burns fat. Is weight loss achieved faster doing cardio every day for long periods of time, or doing HIIT a few times a week? Or, should I do both?

Thank You, very informative , i train HIt 5 days a week for 30 min and i dont know if this is too much for my body but i only continue working out if i feel my body is in a good condition.

It is more than you need to be healthy, but if you are training for some event and feel good it should be fine. I did hit almost every day when I trained for the Olympics, but that wasn't to be healthy.

Hopefully you can do a video on weight training. Reduce to a few minutes each session so not to invoke cortisol and not go to failure each set? It would be great if we can get some guidance. Thank you Dr. Sten. You don't seem to have done a video on weight training. i suppose it would be a similar philosophy to HIIT. I've reduced my 45 min workout to 20 min max, reduced each exercise to 2 sets (experimenting trying to get the most from the least). I'm not pushing as hard either and I'm thinking 20 min is too long perhaps. I'm happy with my physique so just trying to maintain and not lose muscle. For HIIT I just do 5 X 20 on, 20 off on exercise bike but i plan to transition to hill running or bike up hill HIIT.

I have a question Doctor: For FAT LOSS would you recommend HIIT or LISS (Anaerobic or Aerobic) for the fastest and best results?
@303runcoach

Both. You can’t do HIIT every day. Do HIIT a couple days a week and aerobic cardio the other days.

@@commandernoodles2367Low Intensity Steady State Basically the opposite of HIIT People will often use it to describe the Anaerobic activity the doctor refers to, but should be the actual low intensity Aerobic he refers to.

What's vo2? Is it the same as hiit?
@andreisevela1496
@andreisevela1496 4 жыл бұрын
Maximum oxygen uptake. Vo2max. This is gold standard for measuring your cardiorespiratory fitness and health rusks related to heart as well. The higher vo2max number - the better. Some Elite athletes may have up to 90.

Is steady state cardio better if you're trying to use up glucose in the blood?
@drekberg
@drekberg 5 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say you're trying to use it up, then the body just have to replace it. If you burn up the glycogen you just get hungry. You want to get fat adapted and create stable blood sugar. I think for most people the majority of exercise should be low intensity, without huffing and puffing, with a little bit of HIIT thrown in.
