So when I decided I would like to try some wood carving, kzbin.infoUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR I went all out and got the best Dremel I could find. I quickly discovered that carving just by hand is a long process (and painful on the hands). Rotary tools can all basically do the same things, but this one has two particular features that set it apart. First, you can use it much more dextrously since it doesn't have a power cord pulling on it. You can also take it anywhere without pulling an extension cord along with you. It's hard to overestimate the benefit of this. You'd think that you'd have to sacrifice some power for this, but this Dremel has a very strong and long-lasting battery and it charges quickly. Secondly, while most rotary told have a few speed settings, this Dremel has a sliding scale, from very slow to extremely fast. This thing can do about a million different jobs, but I would point out one drawback, which is certainly not unique to Dremel, is that it's a small chore to change out the different tips.

I understand your "unbiased" enthusiasm Cornelius but I believe the corded 4000 series have more power and definitely higher rpm. I would love to be able to justify having another Dremel and I believe this model is the highest powered CORDLESS hobby rotary tool but I could be wrong. I knew Bosch would bring out a brushless model and that is the future of all electric tools. Dremel being a premium tool (with premium price) are at the forefront of technology. More power to Dremel. BTW people, get the app no matter which model Dremel you have. It can be used as bit reference vs working material, so not just for the Bluetooth connected 8260.

I've been looking for a Dremel rotary tool for more than 2 weeks, but what makes me totally undecided is whether I should buy it corded or cordless. I know, it all depend on the use, but other than the few jobs I'm planning, I actually really don't know how and what other jobs I will be using it. About 8260 I like so much the brushless motor, while I really don't like the "smart" side... while about the corded I obviously like the non-stop work that I'll be able to carry out... as also the flexible accessory that comes with the platinum box... aaaaah which one to chose when you are so much undecided?

you can get a Brushless cordless Dremel w/o the Bluetooth. It's the 8250. Personally I'm getting the 8240 (Brushed motor) because I'm paying under $100 for it with a 2Ah battery and accessories. Since I have 2 additional Bosch 12V batteries I think that will be enough for my needs. If you don't have any existing Dremel/Bosch batteries than I'd say go corded or plan on getting a 2nd battery

I have both a corded and cordless rotary tool (neither Dremel, but similar types of thing), I have used my corded rotary tool exactly 0 times since getting the cordless one. That said if you have one work bench and your going to use it all the time and just leave it plugged in then in that circumstance I would use a corded one. I too hate bluetooth in everything.
@sudoboat
@sudoboat Жыл бұрын
Corded. Batteries die, explode and discharge over time. Unless you plan using it in the middle of a forest, go with corded. And even then you'd be better off buying an external 110vac-capable battery pack that can be used with other corded devices.
@siamaklighvani3951
@siamaklighvani3951 10 ай бұрын
Corded has some advantages and some disadvantages, the advantage is that you are not getting limited on the life of the battery. The disadvantage is that the cord is somehow on your way which may irritate us. I prefer corded with brushless motor.

@CorneliusCreations

That depends on how heavy the job is. For light duty applications on a full charge the app says it is around 28 minutes and around 16 minutes or more for heavy duty applications. But keep in mind, Most people will use this tool in small "spurts". This is 100% more battery life than the previous cordless version! I ABUSED this thing and it still had around 2 minutes left. And the video you saw was edited for time! No complaints on the time for me.

Curious to see what times I get on this - I've recently got into making fishing lures and use the dremel for light sanding/shaping and on such a small piece, lower RPMs are the way to go. Sadly, I killed my 8220 when I went to use it for a slightly heavier-duty task on a hot day. This model is also so much quieter with it's brushless motor, at least on those lower RPMs.

Im really curious as well. I have the 4300, 8220, & dremel lite, but I pretty much never use the 8220 since if I'm at my work bench I'll just plug in the 4300, and if I need a small task done elsewhere the lite works fine. I want to know if the 8260 is worth it if I don't need to be away from an outlet. I also wonder why they wouldn't make an equivalent corded option.

@ryankozak99
@ryankozak99 Жыл бұрын
The mantra "let the speed do the work" applies here. More torque is only needed if rpm is lost when under load. This tool maintained rpm. The brushless motor uses a speed controller which likely pumps more amps to keep the speed up as needed (and reduces amps when not under load to save battery). A transmission would be louder, bigger, heavier, less reliable, less efficient, and more expensive.

Hi - quick question.. y'know the on/off switch.. obviously works by SLIDING forwards or backwards... but does yours move DOWN further into the body of the tool if you PRESS it down in towards the inside.. and then come back up with you take the pressure off? I just got mine the other day but i noticed that there was 'play' vertically when you put your finger or thumb on the button, and non of my previous Dremels did that - they were quite solid and firm when you slid them on or off... Short video here.. pls let me know if it looks right or not.. kzbin.infogZIoxIJ6mUA

There is no benefit to set speed in the phone, a variable dial on the Dremel is much more convenient. By putting the bits/material/rpm speed information in a phone app only makes your phone smarter, not Dremel. I would not call this Dremel smart. The real deal for this new Dremel is the increased power which seems very impressive.

Life is already complicated. No need to add a new complication for using a rotary!

I disagree thay cords general offer more power I guess more run time but I find good quality cordless tools having more power than standard corded tools

DC... Direct current.. AC is 110V/220V...DC is battery operated.

You will need AC to charge the battery. The tool itself is DC

It has NOT doubled the battery life: Was 2 Ah, is 3 Ah, and has 20% more power than the predecessor, thus shorter Battery life. Sorry, but despite your enthusiasm, I cancelled the whole video at [0:44].

wow, bluetooth app looks awesome. It gives me a cumbersome slow way to change the speed, and ads to buy more crap. Bluetooth makes me want to avoid the tool. It shows me that the manufacturer priorities are in the wrong place. I want them to focus on making a good tool, not adding gadgety trash like bluetooth and glowing screens. How much cheaper would the tool be without bluetooth? Even one cent cheaper would be worth it. Looks like an ok dremel, just wish they didnt add the silly stuff.

It would be kind of nice if you were not talking and playing music while demonstrating the speeds, so that we can hear what the tool sounds like. Content creators do not need to fill every second with music and/or babble.

The 8250 model available at Lowes and Amazon are the Bluetooth free model and are $20 less. You can still use the app to look up proper bits and rpms, you just need to change them manually.

I'm sorry bud, I had to stop and dislike this video. For someone who is introducing a product you should never be saying RPM'S. There is no S! Revolutions Per Minute... Not Revolutions Per Minutes. Very informative up until I stopped the video, but please... RPM.
