I have owned a Dremel most of my life but never thought of using it to carve. I have been making Christmas Ornaments for many years and will follow your instructions to decorate them this year. I just tried it and its so much easier then carving by hand. At age 90 I try to learn something new every day and today you were my mentor. I also plan to use the Dremel to add detail to my lathe turnings. Maybe I should buy a modern Dremel its much fancier then mine. Keep up nthe good work, Walt

When you speed up the video, the nice, gentle, Dremel sound suddenly turns into a horrendous screeching sound that hurts the ears. I'm not sure if you knew that when you sped up the footage lol But aside from that, I love your tutorial. It's sooo well thought out and you don't miss anything. You make sure that we really understand, not only WHAT you're doing, but WHY you're doing it. I love that you are explaining your reasoning behind everything you're doing. That helps soo much. This was the perfect information for printing stencils. I did one today and just printed a full size on a 8.5x11 piece of paper and reduced it on my printer /copier. This app will be great. Thanks for the info. 👍Beautiful finished box now I know how to add depth to the celtic knots. May integrate some wood burning into it as well. 😉

When I say "It is detrimental", this is an “emotional catch phrase” - let me reword: “Not understanding these techniques could hinder your carving”. Meaning the techniques you learn will better you and not hinder you. There are a lot of carvings out there that would be better with this technique. 👍🏻

For the Fogging Glasses Ting: You can get a glycerin solution for small money at drugstores, whiping your glasses with it will keep them from fogging up. Its the same stuff that is in some Fluids for fog machines and it basicly ceeps the water from bonding and forming drops.

For dust protection I'd probably go for the system that the dude who makes huge swords uses. I know it doesn't help but literally he's got over 1M subs just type big swords and the crazy thing he has for dust protection is probably the best and most versatile.

Yes, exactly! In fact one of my teachers told me to stop carving as deep 😁. Depending on the look you are going for and what it is that you are carving, I will sometimes not even add depth.

That all depends on what kind of finish you want to go for. On a lot of exotic woods, oil is usually preferred. I will try to make a video sometime

I just love this video! It is easy to watch/follow and u get right to the point, by showing exactly what to do! I just came across it, as I’m teaching myself to carve with my dremel! I’ve been carving rocks mostly, but looking for practical, easy videos to learn how to carve in the smaller spaces and make it still look nice, even, sharp, etc. This video helped w/that a bit AND got me interested in trying to carve wood!! Although it’s a video teaching carving in wood, these techniques showing the negative space can also be used when carving rocks!!I’ve like and subscribed to your channel and will be looking for more videos like this on ur channel! Hear ye: Just say “I misspoke.” Your rephrase does not explain away the use of detrimental. Saying “not knowing theses tips would be detrimental...” would work. You said knowing them is detrimental, which means, “ don’t listen to me.” Regardless, great tips. It helped and was in no way detrimental.
