The reason why there are no stars visible in the video of the moon landing is because the camera settings were not adjusted to capture them. The camera was adjusted to make the most out of the scenery on the moon, which is incredibly bright due to the lack of atmosphere to scatter daylight. The relatively dim stars in the background didn't register in any of the shots. The sky on the moon is black as night not because it is night, but because there's no atmosphere to scatter the daylight the way ours does on Earth. The flag in the moon landing footage appears to be waving, but it is not due to wind. According to astrophysicist Sierra Casten, the flag was attached to a metal pole that held up the top of the flag. The metal pole was rotated back and forth while being planted into the ground, causing the flag to ripple like a pendulum. The flag's appearance of waving is also due to the fact that it was disturbed as it was planted into the ground and kept this bent shape because of the lack of strong gravity on the Moon. The shadow of the camera man was visible because the sun was shining on him at an angle that cast a shadow on the ground. The surface of the moon is covered in a fine layer of dust, which can reflect light and create shadows that are visible from a distance. Additionally, the camera man may have been standing in a location where there was a slight depression or slope in the ground, which could have created a shadow that was visible in the footage.
