For a robust offroad camper the wooden frame is a completely bad idea! Only advantage is that it’s probably light but durability sucks . I’d go for aluminum frame rather than wood. Otherwise a great DIY project

NEW SUBSCRIBER. I'm only speaking from my 15 years of RV traveling with regular hitches. I learnt with much difficulty to avoid Good Year tires. Have a good wheeled jack and tire wrench, unless you pay for roadside service. With that in mind, you may have to wait awhile before getting roadside service. Eaglegards...

Wow. This is awesome and also pretty timely. I have a 2001 Coleman Sun Valley where the canvas is on its last legs. Figured id strip it down and use the base trailer to do my own. At 7'5" x 17', that's a good base to start from. If you had to guess, roughly how many man hours did you put into this? Id hazard roughly 75 to 100 hours. Such great work, Eddie. Well done.

What a pleasure is was to see your meticulously precise attention to detail and superb craftsmanship during the construction of your travel cabin. I was particularly impressed with the lengths you went to to keep water, mud and road grime away from your floor, your ingenious use of folded sheet metal was excellent in that application. Your chassis is as good as it gets, and one of the strongest I've seen for an off road compact travel cabin. This build will inspire others to construct their own to a similar high standard. Thank you for sharing. Edited for typo.

Thankfully, your attitude wasn't shared by the designers and constructors of some of the most famous vessels, aircraft and vehicles constructed in wood that were truly outstanding, such as the De Havilland Mosquito.

@@felixcat9318 the world has moved on to other things. When did you last see a new car with a wooden frame? Not saying it wouldn't be cool, but wood is not really known for being a very uniform material.
