Dr. Berg interviews a special guest named John Wood, the CEO of US wellness meats. It is an online site where you can buy grass-fed animal products.
Dr. Berg: Hey guys! I have another very interesting guest, John Wood who is the CEO of US Wellness Meats. Basically, it’s an online site and you can actually buy the grass-fed animal products, he has a lot of other products and the reason I wanted to talk to him is because I wanted to do a video on grass-fed foods. And the problem is that it’s hard to find some experts. I wanted to go right to the source and find the expert on this topic who actually is a farmer that’s been doing this for a long time. So, thanks John for being here and I just want to welcome you. I appreciate you spending the time, I know you’re extremely busy with your farms.
John: Dr. Berg I appreciate the invitation and I also appreciate your knowledge on grass-fed meats and what you have don for the industry. You’re a great asset to our community because you understand the value of smart nutrition and understand that if we go back on the planet for million years, all of our ancestors eat grass-fed meats, and in 1900 only 2% of us were diabetic, and heart disease and not even discussed by the modern medicine at that time point so it gives you this a little bit of a clue I think out ancestors had this pretty well figured out.
Talk to a Product Advisor to find the best product for you!
Call 1-540-299-1556 with your questions about Dr. Berg's products. Product Advisors are available Monday through Friday 8am-6pm and Saturday 9am-5pm EST.

Great information :-) When someone tells me that Organic food is too expensive, I explain that if they look at the nutritional profile of Organic vs Regular food, organic is about the same cost and they are getting better, healthier food. I stopped eating in restaurants a long time ago. Fish is usually Farmed, the meats are Factory Farmed and the vegetables are full of pesticides and other chemicals. And don't forget that they are using Tap Water, which has Fluoride and 50 other chemicals in it... In reality, restaurant food is Poison... I cook with and drink filtered Rain Water and about 70% of my food is Organic. Then the other 30% are items that I am very selective with. Then, I have my supplements, which include Chlorella, Wheat Grass, Spirulina, Moringa and others... To my knowledge, there is no restaurant, on the planet that has food as good as I eat at home... Done deal...

DStray Cat I enjoyed your comment. I wish I could live this way but travel constantly and must eat in restaurants. I am concerned about water and meats especially. I notice Panera uses non-antibiotic meats but that is about the only place I have seen advertise this. I don't touch fish unless it is listed as "wild caught" or I know it is an ocean fish, such as mahi mahi, which is rare to see for fish. If it's a fish I have never heard of, I don't go there. Most of those are imported from China which I don't trust. Too many fake and tampered foods are coming from over there.

You are living right! I also don't eat out and make all my meals from scratch. I'm on the go alot myself, so I prep and take my food with me. My biggest challenge are family gatherings, as the food, though lovingly prepared, is all conventional.

We buy from US Wellness Meats all the time. The chicken and pork is way better than store bought. More tender and just tastes better IMO. We also love the liverwurst. Different texture but same flavor and you know it's good for you. I just took bacon out of the freezer from them. It's always good and frozen when it gets here too, even in mid-summer. I wouldn't have had the courage to try them if not for Dr. Berg mentioning them.

Agreed! We all need to find a good balance of cod liver and grass-fed/grass-finished offal liverwurst! Now, can anybody corroborate the finding of reductant/antioxidant carotenoids in the grass-fed animals translating into a net gain for human consumption? I once aspired to be a soil physicist. The microbiology of the soil was not new to me. I have forgotten much in over thirty-five years, however!

The cost to produce the product are a problem for most consumers. The common grocery store beef, as noted in the video, gets fed grains for the last 30 days. So the feeding of grass those last 30 days causes the price to go up 4 times over a blend of grains & grass. ( you cannot feed a cow 100% grain... they die if you do.) I suspect it has to do with economies of scale more than feed costs. The boutique marketing of the product covers the higher costs. I can purchased certified organic, 100% grass fed (cradle to grave), ground beef locally at ALDI for half of their product price.

LIVIN CINCY we need to get back to the way our ancestors prepared and cooked meat products. No part of the animal went to waste. They rendered the fat for cooking, ate the offal parts, and used bones to make stock or soups. You can justify spending more money on quality meat if you make the meat go further in your cooking. I, personally, found a local butcher who also owns his own beef cattle farm, producing grass fed beef at a lower price than the supermarkets, so I can know how my meat is produced, from paddock to plate. If you can source local meats, you may spend a bit more, but the money supports the farmers and ensures animal welfare is good. As an Aussie, we are officially the highest beef consumers in the world. Our beef exports are in demand because we are GMO and BSE- Free. Only export beef is grain fed for American tastes. Our local beef is mostly grass fed. Supplement your meat supply with fresh, wholesome plant foods from farmers markets, organic grains and legumes. A small amount of quality meat can go a long way, you don't need to eat it for every meal, every day. Mix it up with free range chicken, wild caught fish and free range eggs, as well as grass fed dairy. My advice would be to research traditional cooking methods, especially from the war rationing days. Also realise that if you add offal meats to your diet, you will be buying it very cheaply because nobody wants to buy it, it is very nutritious, and can be incorporated with muscle meats in dishes, eg. Recipes made with minced meat cater well to adding offal meats to make them go further and add extra nutrients. Research "nose-to-tail" butchering and cookery.

I raise my own cows. They are pastured until the last 30 days and then they get a little grain added, about a coffee can full per day. I use organic grain and it is NOT about economy of scale or feed cost or even fattening them. It is because it takes like game meat if it not grain finished. Some people like that flavor, I cannot eat it.

Keto or not, do your best to get Organic, which legally requires no GMOs, but also the certified (confirmed via accredited laboratory) and grass fed meat and butter. What I've discovered is the greater cost of Organic whole foods is compensated by the fact the more nutrient dense foods are far more satisfying and for longer times-so one eats less=buys less food

Grass fed beef barely has any Omega 3, so it really doesn't matter. In comparison, Salmon has something like 100 x's more Omega 3.. So eating grass fed vs grain fed isn't going to make a dent. You can eat a bite of Salmon, mackerel, sardine... and get so much more omega 3 than a eating a dozen grass fed beef steaks.

Hi Dr.Berg, I have lost 88lbs on keto, but I have to be honest, I am on fringe of poverty, and your plan just seems to be made for not my income level, i will probably get some trolls, but I'm on food stamps, and do you really know how much grass fed beef costs? if i was to consume grass fed beef I would not have any money left to get the 10 oz of greens a day, and avocados, other cheaper keto foods. It must be nice to have whole foods n co cop markets like dc area has, I live in small rural area right at border of NY, Quebec, and Ontario provinces. I read the labels for salad dressings, supermarkets here just dont have the ones you reccomend. Ive lost 88 lbs doing what im doing on my income level. I will continue watching though, and when my luck changes i prob will have more room to follow your program to the tee.

So do I Andy and it's not easy but just do your best to make one meal a day the best you can. Get friendly with local farmers, it's been my family's saving grace on keto. Until the world changes, we must do our best by going the distance and building our own networks of clean food access. I have considered buying in Co operation with others to afford the meats but in reality...I'm likely going to have to adopt the fasting more and budget only one meal per day. All the best to you as you get healthier.

Although after watching this video, Walmart may not grass finish their beef...but it is a current choice if you don't know any farmers. Don't be afraid to ask the farmers hard questions about what they feed their animals. Many Amish also follow organic grassfed /pastured practices in NNY so that's maybe an option.

Grass fed beef is expensive no doubt. The most cost effective way to go about it is to eat grass fed organ meats, heart, liver etc. buy grass fed cheap cuts like fatty chuck steak and ground beef. Buy grain fed steaks and eat oily fish a few times a week to get your balance of omega 3 to omega 6 ratios.

germaine yombadem, we’ll according to Dr P J D’Adamo ‘Eat Right For Your Type’, states blood group A to avoid animal protein and be more vegetarian (can have chicken & other birds plus fish), blood group B can cope with some animal meats, lamb is best, type O does best on animal protein, particularly beef. Grass fed is most beneficial for better quality and ideally pesticide and chemical free. Blood O should not eat grains, hence grass fed is best for blood O. He has a great website and a phone app.

That’s why some diets work for some people and not for others. if you can get some of his books, check out his website and invest in his phone app, it’s very helpful and gets updated. I love reading the explanations in his books, it helps to understand how and why your blood group body works the way it does. You can buy some books cheaper on eBay.

Dr Berg, loved the video, lots of information. We just need to get the companies to label their products correctly so we know what we are buying. Keep up the great work.

My understanding is that the FDA allows you to feed corn that has had the starch removed and that's considered grass-fed???

I’m very impressed with this interview, Dr. Berg! Just what I needed to hear! I’m interested to see if Mr. JOHN Wood has mail order delivery. He’s someone I’d like to buy from. Organ meat: my parents raised me on liver and kidney So Mr. Woods liverwurst sounds great!!!! Thank you for making a major difference with this interview and other teaching videos. What you’re doing is changing my life. (I’m allopathic RN etc and know I know nothing!-so grateful every blessing to you and your wife!)

Thank you Dr. Berg for making these kind of infos available to us. Just a quick question, to some of us who live in areas where grass fed may not be available, does that mean our keto diet would be less or not effective? Or worst, would do more harm than good eating meats that were grain fed?

Well explained. Flavor is not everything (e.g. grass fed vs grain fed beef). The nutrients from grass fed diet meat foods as explained is much appreciated. It’s healthier. Beyond organic is an eye opener in food consumption information dissemination. All in all, educational and informative.

Madbaglady88 Riverford does! And they deliver to most of the UK. Any organic beef should be grass fed. It's easy to find in the UK. But it is expensive so get used to meals without meat and just have it once or twice ( or less) a week.😊

Mike I agree those with more money always have something to say, yet they dont pay your bills. However It would not have to be this expensive if the industry made these products more available. So Sad. I am from Nebraska so finding good beef is not that difficult but I feel you.

Easyntonof set the cost buy lowering the total amount. Just by 2 meal a day alone shoukd be enough to cover the cost. And then there is the quality of nutrition versus lack of.

There was a female Dr. whose husband had dementia. She fed him Coconut oil several times a day. Given the amount of nutrients in this Keto diet, it does help the brain. Fasting helped me the most of all to regain brain function.
