The C curve neck is responsible for so many functions and once you lose it, it can become a disease process if not reversed. I have successfully reversed mine through diligent exercises, traction, strengthening, and working on posture. I had a tailbone injury as a kid falling down the stairs and knocking the wind out of me, whiplash from car accident as a teenager and a head forward posture from my job as an adult. Add to that i'm very tall and lanky, weak connective tissue and developed cervical radiculopathy, stenosis, pinched nerve, elevated heart rate, insomnia, gastroparesis, brain fog, anxiety, and lost the use of my hands with searing burning pain, could not make fist, or turn my head, for about four years at the end of it. No wonder they call it "the arc of life." it really is because now that I have gotten my curve back, I have gotten my life back. I could barely move and function. It's possible if anyone is struggling. After my doctor saw my x-ray (arthritis at every level in the neck, military straight, bone spurs in the front) he said it was inevitable and from the aging process. I didn't accept that and went to work. The hard part was figuring out all the symptoms originated from the neck, and the process of reversal relieved my symptoms almost immediately when I started teh work on my neck.
@vincentvega37472 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear. Did you verify thru an x-ray that you got your curve back? I am going thru something very similar. How long did it take for you to feel a difference? If possible would it be OK with you if we could talk for a bit? Thx you very much for sharing your story.
@lalabyelulu40212 жыл бұрын
@@vincentvega3747 Sure. It took the better part of a year, but the last three months have been the game changer because I can finally look down for long periods of time without recreating symptoms. I noticed an improvement right away in some of the symptoms like the hand pain, but the neck did get worse for awhile because the therapy caused a lot of inflammation. My neck was basically cement. That was last year around this time. But I have full motion now, no neck pain or flares and the above symptoms are gone aside from some hand tingling and numbness occasionally. I also changed my diet adding animal protein and fat, cutting out all sugar to give it the best healing. Unfortunately my doc will not give an after x-ray because of the radiation risk, but I look better visually as far as posture goes. I don't have a dip at the bottom of the C spine anymore and I have built up the ligament and muscles around it so I no longer look slumped over and can hold my head up. Also my jaw mechanics are back to normal (I had the TMJ dysfunction/locked jaw), and tinnitus is gone; so this confirms in my mind that I have the correct mechanics even without x-ray. Hope this helps.

Also had carpal tunnel in both wrists. Neck pain would travel down through T3&4. At a gym they gave me traction while sitting up- was wonderful! Was taught neck stretches-helps tremendously. Interesting. I was taught that a forward head posture was the result of neck extensors that are too long and stretched and short and tight neck flexors. That the extensors needed to be strengthend and the flexors needed to be stretched in order to correct this. With forward rounded shoulders (which you often see with forward head posture) I recommend stretching the pecs and the anterior deltoids while strengthening the middle trapezium.

Absolutely agree. I like this guy but I don't agree with his rounding of the back stretching at all. Any rounding or arching under weight can cause terrible injury which is why deadlifters or squatters in training under load will sometimes use back braces.

I’m going to send this to my kids, whose posture has been mangled by massive backpacks since elementary school.

I agree. I think it’s cruel to expect kids to carry weights like mules. When my kids were of school age their grandma and I bought them a backpack that had been designed by a physiotherapist with spinal health in mind. They proved to be a godsend. Greetings from Australia.

What is the correct exercise when you’re in a car accident where you’re hit from behind that forces you to then hit the car in front of you? I ended up getting whiplash, but didn’t get it treated. This happened a long time ago and I’ve had chronic neck issues since, including a reverse curve.

I fell on ice and hit my chin while ice skating over 30 years ago. I never thought would affect my neck and having forward neck now. This video is very helpful. Thank you!

Yes I have had multiple injuries to my neck. I am now 62 and the signs are beginning. I'm doing on line courses now and whilst I'm still active, riding horses, walking etc, I have noticed that my neck is becoming more and more constricted, and even locks and I cant turn it. I was thinking about getting a neck traction sling thingy... and now that you have recommended it and will go and get one. I'll also start the neck exercises. Thanks for being one of my most valuable resources, and go to person. I appreciate it.

For me: I had a car accident in my teens, thankfully it wasn't serious for me, as I haven't had head injuries, only the glass shattered on my arms, which they recovered later, but it was frightening as hell, and I did feel this sense of dizziness as I left the car, which almost turned upside down, but luckily balanced back in the last second, and I managed to open the door and escape, as a car hit us from the side, on my way to school, unfortunately for the poor driver; who was in a senior age, and hit his head on the glass, his face was covered all over with blood, and he lost consciousness, part of the reasons why I was screaming in terror at that moment 😅 thinking that he's dead, luckily he woke up in hospital later. but after that he was more like depressed and had back probs, and eventually quit working because of his health conditions, and returning to posture: I think I had a bad one in my teen days, yet when I ask my husband if I still have this prob now he says it's fine. Thanks for the info Dr Berg 😊

I’ve had really bad headaches that start on the right side of my neck and eventually spasm to my forehead. The last couple of years I’ve had dizzy spells and I’ve found that stretching daily has reduced both. If I don’t stretch I’ll have a awful head ache for a day or more. Thank you for this video it made me feel better about what I’ve been doing to improve.

First and foremost, thank you very sincerely much Dr. Berg for all of your content. It is so very much appreciated! Question: Are these same methods also good for a hump at the base of the neck/ middle-upper shoulder area? Or is that something completely different? Thanks so much 💗🤗

Thank you dr. Berg.🙏 Neck injury as a child. Diving into a swimming pool, not seeing another child underneath the water! 😪 We were 10 years old at a party. I felt nauseous and went home immediately! Did not tell my parents! 😯 From then on from time to time I got a 'stiff neck' .. could not turn it sideways ... One day it was so bad, I was 42 at the time, I went to see a orthopedic surgeon, and had a MR scan. I was operated on within two days! Had a fusion in my neck. It took a year to recover fully! But for 22 years now I am fine. No pain. I am grateful and thankful! But my head posture is not right. 😪 Forward.

When I was 16, a very athletic friend of mine was doing back flips on a trampoline and I (a non-athlete) tried to do one. I managed to get upside down, but landed on my neck on the coils of the trampoline (the pads had slipped off). The next day I was stiff all over and eventually "recovered" but have had neck pain ever since. Your videos sound very enticing. It would be nice to have a relaxed feeling all over. Thank you for making these videos!

Thank you, Dr Berg. Is it possible to have this condition and not have any pain or symptoms? I've thought for a long time that my neck goes forward, but I don't seem to have any of the associated issues.

Multiple neck and tailbone traumas, from MVAs, falling on ice, being thrown off horses, falling through a floor into a basement when I wasn't told the floor could be insecure, more. Love the cervical traction idea. Will pursue. Thank you!!

Thank you, Dr. Berg! When I was in 1st or 2nd grade, I jumped off playground structure. Immediately after, another boy jumped, his feet landed on top of my head. I've had problems ever since. I'm 67, it was over 10 years later before we heard of chiropractic. Between that & mild scoliosis I've had 'issues' ~60 years. Please keep up the good work & great job! Have a GREAT day, Neighbor!

I've had problems with my neck, stiffness, dizziness, since I was a teenager. I'm 43 now. I fell from a height when I was 6yrs and broke my right wrist and shoulder blade. Then when I was 11yrs, I blacked out and fell from more than 10ft and broke my left radius. The dizziness is the worst and anytime my shoulders are stiff, the dizziness returns. Thank you so much for the info Doc.

Dr.Berg I have recently been diagnosed with lupus, I would be beyond greatful if could do a video regarding, what to do, what not . What to eat, what not and how cope with still living a normal life with a toddler (toddler diagnose with lupus like mom). I so appreciate your work, thank you for all the information you give us daily. If you already covered this a link to those videos would be such a gift! Thank you again.
