I feel like the reintroduction of sabo is like a trophy to Luffy for continuing his journey after Ace died. If he had stopped there, he never could've met again with his other brother. Besides he's a completely different character than Ace so I really don't see a problem with bringing him back into the story... besides that one plot hole you mentioned.

Sabo was shot down by a celestial as a kid. At least his amnesia was valid
@ipods875 жыл бұрын
oldman swagga aka Scooba Steve Of course the amnesia will always seem valid. You’re writing it in for convenience so of course it’ll always “make sense”. That doesn’t make it good writing it’s lazy and cheap. Just because you like the idea of Sabo as a character or think he’s cool doesn’t make his existence meaningful or make any sense. Sabo is sick no doubt but his character wasn’t needed and took away from Aces death and impact.
@deanyy33734 жыл бұрын
Nanashi there’s four years in between marine ford and dressrosa. aces impact had four years to be felt. if it was really ruined after four years i don’t think that’s as much of the series issue as it is yours

@Maltesfilm4 жыл бұрын
Nanashi Just because a writing technique is usually used as a cheap way to do something doesn’t the technique itself is bad. Why can’t amnesia work as good writing? Is it because it has been misused by others or is it just a fundamentally flawed writing technique? I also don’t believe that Sabo being alive in anyway took away from Ace’s death, i mean ace had more character than just being dead. If a character lost his mother, i wouldn’t then say introducing his father later on still alive takes away the impact of the mothers death.

@razkable6 жыл бұрын
its fine but since the post war arc was slow and sad after aces death and our cree being separated and luffy knocked out then going insane the fishman island arc sucked and the fact punk hazard was set up for dressrosa means until wano currently we really didn't have a non dressrosa related arc since the early part of the decade..lol...the punk hazard and dreasoraa arcs lasted like 4 years in real time even in the manga and over 5 almost 6 in the anime

and thats the problem, there's a reason the saying "too much of a good thing" exists. and this arc is proof of that. its filled with amazing things, but put together, it becomes too tiresome to keep track of. 100 weeks, its just too long for its own good. it would've worked much better if they just cut it in half and divided it into 2 separate arcs instead.

@@marcosdheleno It's not really different than the other arcs though, even if it is hella longer. He had Dressrosa under his foot even more so than Crocodile had Alabasta, and while most villian back stories are there to make you feel sympathy, his kind just shows where his elitist attitude and thirst for power and respect come from. Lastly, he was one of the hardest paramecia fruit user to put down since Luffy :)

I loved the Dressrosa Arc, risks were taken and most of them paid off. Yes, it was long, but it was such a compelling story that it kept me going. My biggest annoyance with the arc was how Rebecca was handled, when she was first introduced I thought that she would go on to do great things, and I was sorely disappointed. But she was a small part of a much larger story that overall went extremely well.
@JustAnotherPerson4U3 жыл бұрын
She got hit with a massive dose of one piece women syndrome. She was basically not allowed to be a badass and resolve her own fight because she is pretty. Instead they gave any fights she may've had to her father. I get Oda was going for a sad tragic backstory. But it's like he only wanted Kyros to reclaim the glory and Rebecca wasn't allowed to do it herself. Honestly, I would argue that Kyros should've just been killed at some point whether it be in the present or sometime after she learnt to fight from him. Then, she could feel empowered to settle her own fights herself.

fun fact I started reading the manga weekly at the literal beginning of dressarosa. Dressrosa is the example of a arc really out staying it's welcome. I consider dressrosa better then alabasta and skypiea. but 101 chapters !!! cut the arc to 70-80 chapter at the max and this arc would be on par-with marineford and better then WCI. all that being said. dressrosa is a very good arc. it's strength's by far out weigh's it's flaws.. the arc highlight's is Fujitora introduction, law & doflamingo back stories, law vs fujitora and doflamingo. gear 4. luffy vs don chinjoa. zoro vs pica. senor pink back story. sabo re-introduction, DF awakenings. big mom's flag ship queen mama appearances. lol I think I made my point... dressarosa is a very ambitious arc. and I love it for that...

Hamze Ahmed dressrosa really doesnt copy alabasta at all... only similarities dreasrosa has with alabasta is crocodile is a warlord same with doffy and sabo re-introduction and others. Mostly these arc’s are very different.. doflamingo isn’t trying to take over dressrosa like crocodile in alabasta doflamingo has already took over dressrosa. True the straw hat are delivering Cesar like vivi but that just a decoy. The real plan was to destroy the smile factory to anger kaido in turn he would kill doflamingo for failing to deliver on the smile. Challenging Doflamingo and his crew was never part of the plan until doflamingo put up the bird cage then it became mandatory. Little similarities mostly different..

one thing i miss about pre timeskip one piece is the crew actually being together and the fact 2 back to back arcs really had little to do with each other leaving me shocked every time at what came next ..like how barate really has nothing to do with syrup village the way syrup and orangetown don't mesh or how we go from loguetown to laboon to reverse mountain to alabasta to little garden to drum back to alabasta to then jaya and skypeia then water 7 then thriller bark to sabaody to amazon lilly impel down ...it didn't feel as planned like now in the yonko arc...all arcs that don't really mesh are exciting...thriller bark was such a big wtf as was amazon lilly...i just like not knowing...but like since fishman we know the next stop

So I've been waiting to share this data I personally collected! On re-read, I counted up every page of flashbacks for these totals (this is based on perspective; some flashbacks switch back and forth like with Law & Corazon) Kyros: 50 pages Law: 46 pages Corazon: 33 pages Doflamingo: 18 pages Rebecca: 13 pages Sabo: 7 pages Chin Jao: 7 pages Baby5: 7 pages Señor Pink: 6 pages Trebol: 4 pages Sengoku: 3 pages Violet: 2 pages Momonosuke: 2 pages Tsuru: 2 pages Chief Gancho: 1 page Leo: 1 page Buffalo: 1 page Bellamy: 1 page King Riku: 1 page Luffy: 1 page TOTAL FLASHBACKS: 206 pages, or over 10 chapters, or more than 1 full volume's worth, or, back when chapters were releasing every other week, about 5 months in real time
@RRRRRRRRR333 жыл бұрын
50 pages of Kyros smh Entire volumes of flashbacks is not something new, I am reading the whole thing again (but this time colored, very cool experience) and in Skypea there's also an entire volume of flashbacks lol I was legitimately surprised, didn't remember the norland flashback was so damn long. Then you had another volume of flashbacks featuring fisher tiger and the random fishman queen, etc.. I don't mind when Oda writes huge flashbacks for protagonists or major characters (like Law or Doflamingo), but these secondary characters getting so much screen time is just ludicrous. And yes, I do consider Oden a secondary character and a retcon, so there's another infuriating 50 pages or so of random secondary characters in the Wano arc

What i find interesting about this arc is it feels like a "what if Crocodile succeeded arc" Cause it has a ton of similarities to the alabasta arc and Crocodile and Donflamingo had close to the same goals but Donflamingo actually succeeded. Both were trying to over the country, frame the king and cause a rebellion but only Don succeeded of course. Plus both are or were obviously warlords doing this. So this does feel like a alternate version of alabasta where no one got there in time to save it.
@Collato2 жыл бұрын
I like to think that's how Crocodile got the whole idea, right down to looking like a hero to the kingdom's citizens. Also like to think that's why Crocodile turns down Donflamingo's partnership at Marineford, he resents Don for his success.

I know a good deal of people don't like him, but I really like Sabo for what he represents for the Revolutionary Army; you have someone who was born into a position of wealth and privilege but suffered despite that and ended up fighting against the system that put him there in the first place. The two things I mainly disagree with are Rebecca and Law. I think you really have to take both of there situations into consideration in regards to the arc. I loved both of there stories and it is easy to forget that Rebecca is a 15yo girl who had her family ripped away and Law was going up against his mentors who knew so much about him. Dressrosa was such an amazing arc. So many fight scenes, flashbacks and funny scenes including Nico Robin receiving a face fault expression 😱 (like this at 0:29). When I first saw Robin’s jaw dropping face, I was like “That’s so NOT Robin!”; I thought it was an out-of-character moment but I could be wrong. Maybe it was a little seed of increased character development. 😄 Robin’s face fault expression was seen like three times. Robin’s usually the silently relaxed and friendly woman. But she is still by far the most stoic and silent member of the Straw Hat crew. She still has her moments of coldness, mostly for comedy purposes, but she now fits the silent and intelligent character archetype more than stoic and closed loner archetype that she had before (Robin’s faith and feelings changed after the Enies Lobby arc) which is currently ocuppied by Trafalgar Law.
@GrandLineReview6 жыл бұрын
Despite being so quiet, Robin definitely fits in with the rest of the Straw Hats in terms of goofy comedy, which I'm very glad about. Prior to the timeskip, I don't think she really had a lot of opportunity to build up a light hearted side, so it's nice to see that coming through in the New World. I just wish Oda would unleash her and let her fight >_>;

The thing with One Piece that Dress Rosa is a prime example of is that even if you don't enjoy/care for a specific arc (this one due to length), it still remains as a key piece in the chain of events to come. Just about every island has something "integral" to the story. Hell, if they didn't go to Skypea, a place cut off from the rest of the world and has no relation, they wouldn't have had the money for Franky to steal that got them the Thousand Sunny. As one example, that is.

While i never considered Dresrossa an Alabasta clone, it's is clearly an updated and more action packed version of Alabasta, with the major question of "What if Crocodile actually won on taking the throne, but not Pluton?". There's also the overall aspect of Marines doing their own Justice (Fujitora did the same that Smoker did by not being involved with the major fight), and the main villain being part of a much bigger organization, except that instead of just being an organization done by Doffy, it's an organization linked to the biggest names in One Piece. I stated in a comment from last week's review that the whole New World narrative has a lot of vibes of using similar stuff from the "first half" of the story, and while Dressrosa clearly follows stuff from Alabasta, and other arcs share similarities in narrative, i would never see them as clones.

I think Dressrosa is a bit of a necessary evil. I think it will help Oda shape future arcs like Wano and Elbaf. Oda tested certain limits with Dressrosa, and I think proof of that is how much concise Whole Cake Island is compared to Dressrosa even though it was our first direct confrontation with a Yonko.

Rebecca was a cool character your really under selling her she went undefeated in the coliseum without ever getting hurt and without ever hurting anyone that’s crazy to think about she was actually strong af but of course not quite on executive level which makes sense for a 16 year old girl. Senor pinks back story was important it was the whole reason why he was dressed like that and made us all respect him. Why you hating on the tontotta? Lol Leo was a beast. Other than that agree with ya. Cool vid

I started watching One Piece when the Anime was in Zou and as someone who was able to marathon through all of Dressrosa in just a few days, it really just blew me away. It's easily one of my favourite arcs in the entire story, tied with EniesLobby/Water7 and Impel Down. While these arcs may feel as though they take forever when read or watched weekly, another thing to remember is that they will be around forever for people to enjoy without having to endure two years. Since I was able to marathon episodes 1-760+ in a very short time, everything feels painfully slow now but I'm really excited to go back and watch each future arc in its entirety when they finish :)

I'm glad I only caught up to One Piece when Dressrosa was just getting into Law's flashback, I avoided having my opinion muddied by most of the weekly wait but got to experience the disgusting cliffhanger of Gear 4th for maximum hype. Very comfortable, compact review that still covered everything important about the arc.

This arc was good. I was definitely tired of it by the end though. It definitely had the best character development of any other arcs. It's villains were amazing too. It also had some of the best battles to go with the character development. However, I hope that Oda never does an arc this long again. One of my biggest fears is Oda not being able to finish the series. Edit: I am in love with how much time and development my baby Law had. :P Edit: Also, it annoys me that Robin hasn't gotten battles either. That's more of a whole series issue though. For being one of the most powerful Straw Hats she doesn't see a lot of battles outside of being support. However, Robin tanks a lot of damage. She seems to be getting hurt a lot in the post-timeskip arcs. What with that gruesome shoulder wound from Monet and the damage the spiked balls did to her back.

This was the arc that made me stop religiously reading One Piece for so many years. One Piece was my personal obsession, and I never really stopped obsessing over it, but I legit couldn't bring myself to read Dressrosa. I dropped the manga around 20 chapters in. There were just so many characters and so many new plot points that it got way too overwhelming, even for a hardcore OP fan like me. I still followed most of the major events thanks to the Wiki and friends and stuff, but for a long time I just didn't read it. Until finally, during the Wano Arc, I said "screw it" and binged everything starting from the beginning of Dressrosa. And I gotta say...it was still rough. Until near the end of Dressrosa, it was still so slow for me. I had a hard time compelling myself to continue. I feel really bad about missing some things like the Law/Corazion flashback, which was excellent, but most of the early-mid arc I just read slowly. As soon as it was all over though and I got to Zou, it was like the pacing just instantly skyrocketed. I was so invested and didn't slow down from there (except for the Luffy vs. Katakuri fight which I felt lasted too long). Needless to say Dressrosa might be my least favorite arc. It had really great worldbuilding, but no other arc has ever made me drop One Piece. I vow that I will never drop One Piece again!! That alright, King of the Pirates?!

@uknownada same with me. I literally skipped episodes and chapters which is something I almost never did, to me even having the whole arc completed and binging it, it was still way to slow for me. I stopped reading and watching it for a little bit then started it again.

Dude honestly thank god for what you said about Sabo. I've always felt the exact same haha. I always knew he was alive and it was just a matter of when he would appear, and I ended up being kind of disappointed in his character basically just feeling like a reskin of Ace. But who knows maybe eventually that will change.

I'm gonna high key disagree with you about Sabo he's not pointless he fullfills the theme of carryin on a person's will with Ace and controversial opinion but I think Sabo is a better character than Ace and I don't think Sabo has any true potholes the amnesia makes sense Ace would not have concerned himself with the revolutionaries AND it makes sense that Sabo would want it to be him to reveal himself to Luffy not Robin so yeah I love Sabo
@Avarn3886 жыл бұрын
StrawHatDango Agreed. GL reasoning for Sabo's inclusion I find is pretty hollow. I can see his point on the amnesia being used as a lazy plotpoint, but the fact that Sabo's name was foreshadowed back in Alabasta, alongside Marineford, and we'd gotten various hints of his survival during the pre/post-timeskip. Also, I find Sabo so much better than Ace. Ace is so overlionized by the OP community. Yeah, his backstory is fine, but he barely did anything. And for most of Marineford he was a damesel in distress. Also, it was his recklessness that got himself killed. Understandable, but at least Sabo when angry, is able to keep himself cool. Also, I prefer Sabo's look but that is me loving how he was inspired by Artful Dodger.

Personally, I feel like robin is fine the way she is. Some people want everyone in the crew to fight and I respect that, but logically speaking, it's not her job. Her job is to read poneglyths and decipher any ancient facts for the crew. Same ges with everyoen else apart from luffy and zoro which is why they are both broken they are fighters
@RRRRRRRRR333 жыл бұрын
As characterization goes, post-timeskip Robin had many issues. Her personality kinda remains the same, a diva as always and that's good... But her training with Dragon was kinda pointless, she didn't even developed haki. Of all the strawhats "masters", Dragon and his army were easily the third best. Only Rayleigh and Mihawk could have been more effective as teachers. In Dressrosa she had more screen time, but as always... the secondary characters took over. That's the major issue of Oda as a writer, he wastes time with every secondary character. And there's no arc with more randoms than dressrosa, an entire coliseum of boring and uncharismastic characters. Kyrus alone had 50 pages of flashbacks, he literally stole a fight from Robin (facing an even lamer antagonist). These pacing issues plagues One Piece since the very beginning smh it can be frustrating

I truly do not get the venom directed at this arc. I still love and adore it. The pacing issues are frankly anime problems so just go for One Pace and chill out. Imo, I love this arc even more after wading through Wano. Everything bad levelled at Dressrosa more appropriately applies to Wano. Comparing the two is like a cae study in writing imo.Both have lots of characters, but one does a MUCH better job investing us in them and utilizing them appropriately. I care about law. I care about Kyros. I care about King Riku. I care about Rebecca. And I love to hate on Doffy and his versatile goon squad. Meanwhile...whenever an episode preview told me I was going to get a 9 samurai heavy episode I had to force myself to keep going. the 9 red scabbards vs Kaido made me question if I even liked One Piece anymore because I was so bored by it. And Kaido, no word of a lie, is a less entertaining villain than Foxy. At least Foxy had a personality beyond being a diet Saiyan

Great video. I will be very candid; Dressrosa was the arc nearly made me drop OP, at least reading it weekly. To start off with the positives, I love Donflamingo; he is my favorite OP antagonists and he kept this arc together. I also enjoyed Bartolomeo, Cavendish. I STRONGLY disagree with you about Sabo as I actually find him more compelling and better written than Ace. However, that said; this arc was too ambitious. In my view, all of these elements would have been better served as apart of smaller arcs. Because, stuff, like the Tontatas felt very shoehorned in. I also felt like Luffy never had a good reason to fight Doffy. Yeah, he was an enemy of Law, but I never felt like the friendship between Luffy and Law was solidified. Overall, while I appreciate this arc a lot more in retrospective and rereading it, this to me is one of the most flawed arcs in OP. 6.8/10

Luffy's "reason" to fight Doffy ended up being that Rebecca gave him lunch >_>;
@Avarn3886 жыл бұрын
GrandLineReview Yeah, and that felt super tacked on. It would have been better if we'd gotten more time between Luffy and Rebecca in my view. All of Dressrosa, I argue could have been cut down into smaller arcs that would have achieved the same result. Also, Luffy wanting to save Law; it would have been nice had the Colessem arc been a separate entity and Luffy/ Law were in it. That way, their friendship could have been better developed. >_>;
@KamisamanoOtaku6 жыл бұрын
For me, the problem was that this felt like Alabasta 2.0, which is *not* a compliment. Donflamingo went from a villain that intrigued me to one that bored and/or annoyed me. I actually had to watch the flashback where he conquers Dressrosa in bits and pieces because I alternated between being bored, cringing, and being angry at the story for trying to shamelessly manipulate in such a similar way. *Again.* I think I mostly got through it because, after a bit, I think I started rooting for Doffy because I was kind of hating the Dressrosa royal family (sans Viola). Granted, I've been only watching the anime for years now for "reasons", though I started out reading the manga in the North American version of Shonen Jump. I too enjoyed Sabo quite a bit, in part because of the bittersweet nature of his existence: "Yay, Ace is back!" "Well... not really." So yeah... for the most part I'm actually agreeing with you, Neil, even if it doesn't sound like it. XP
@Avarn3886 жыл бұрын
Otaku I enjoyed Donflamingo and his backstory and I was fine with it. Dressrosa I argue just had too many moving parts and sacrificed arc consistency for the greater world building. And that sucks. I believe why people say Dressrosa is Alabasta 2.0, outside the similarities, is because Alabasta had fantastic buildup. Baroque Works, Vivi, Crocodile's name. That was a prevalent across Whisky Peak, Little Garden. And Alabasta. I felt like Oda tired to have one hand off the wheel. You can tell he wanted to pay homage to Alabasta, but also wanting to do some different things. And I think it was this, alongside his health at the time, that hindered this arc. If I could rewrite Dressrosa, or advise Oda as an editor; I would have split a lot of Dressrosa. The Colosseum would have been a separate arc, a short one. Have the underworld elements foreshadowed and then move into Dressrosa. That would have been a lot better IMO.
@KamisamanoOtaku6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I gathered you liked it; I was just stating my own opinion... and I'll also add that it *should* be something I liked; the pacing just killed it. Remember the scene from _The Incredibles_ when Bob is still overweight and gets stuck in the launch tube? How the henchman working the launch button presses it a few times, eventually turning it and somehow getting it to work? Label that "The Feels Button" and it describes this arc for me. Stuff I *should* have liked just didn't work for me. *Fortunately* a lot of stuff did. Like Rosinante. :) As for your suggestion... it may worry you to know I agree. XD

Revisiting this during a reread, and man, has my perspective on the royal family shifted for the better. They're crazy good in their relationship, Kyros and Rebecca especially. I think alot of negativity on them was entirely due to overshadowing.

Doflamingo's backstory is awesome because it doesn't set you up to make you feel sorry for him. And his arrogance and twisted nature DOES make you think. Doflamingo is a bad man but regardless of his status as a tenryuubito he was always destined for greatness. I kind of wonder if his family weren't thrown out would he still be this powerful guy. With the unlimited power of a celestial dragon this guy would just be too terrifying.

Sabo was supposed to be 'dead' to Luffy back then. Hence the other members of the SH crew didn't know about Sabo' existence since Luffy did not talk about his 'dead' brother Sabo. The reason why Nico Robin didn't tell Luffy about Sabo's existence might be because Luffy did not tell his crew about him at all since he's 'dead'. As proven by how he often talks about Ace since he's alive instead of Sabo who's dead. Moreover it is most likely that Sabo did not tell Nico Robin about his relationship with Luffy and Ace. Which is why Nico Robin did not tell Luffy about Sabo. One more thing........it could be because of plot convenience.

Both crocodile and doflamingo used the underworld to aid in there plan Both crocodile and doflamingo had the same goal one failed one worked Both had a princess who could fight. Both introduce luffys brother who saved him from defeat and fought a navy officer. I think you completely missed the reason why Sabo as Luffy’s brother came back after Ace’s death. Ace being the son to Roger and dying with Whitebeard represented the end of a pirate era. Sabo never became a pirate therefore was never part of it. He’s the other side of Luffy’s world. Sabo is also the first descendant of the WG we see be a direct outlaw and for Luffy, he represents the faith Luffy had after Ace died. Didn’t have a problem with the Sabo amnesia thing cause he was only 10 and it’s the world of One Piece. I figured Sabo told Robin not to tell Luffy until he sees him which would make since because 1. Sabo would be her boss, and Robin probably wouldn’t want Luffy to find out by her telling him. I didn’t even consider that one plot hole tho. I would go even a step further and say Sabo should’ve noticed Luffy and Ace through the papers much earlier. We see the Revolutionary Army didn’t even know about Luffy and his relationship to Dragon until after the war, when they have the same surname with “D.” It makes it even worse since Ace found about Luffy so easily and took a detour to reunite with him and ask him to join Whitebeard. He would’ve easily seen Sabo as well. But Oda does have a tendency to overtly overlook character and story logic to simply get to a moment of story plot he really wants to happen.

I think this review gives the Dressrosa arc too much praise. This arc was painstakingly long, especially the anime adaptation, which dampened the impact of more pivotal moments of the arc. So much could have been cut from this arc and I think this is an example in the One Piece story when less could have been more. Which looks like that's gonna be most of post-time skip. To name a few: -we don't need Pink's flashback -We don't need Viola's flashback -we don't need the Sabo's flashback or Sabo at all -We don't need as much of Rebecca's flashback -And we definitely don't need Bellamy at all. He could've stayed dead.

Dressrossa Coming from an Anime only watcher perspective here was a complete drag. The fact that it was soooo long gave me an existential crisis. The plotholes of how Sugar’s fruit works she makes a contract ok but everyone who knew them just forgets? The amount of evidence like Photos and Belongings and no one questions where these things come from because a person was turned into a toy really? This concept is done much better with Moria taking shadows or Big Mom taking souls and putting them in inanimate objects. Doflamingo’s powers dont make any sense either like Birdcage. The range of his powers with being miles away still controlling them. Almost like he controls them in Auto Pilot. Plus he can make a Sentient Clone? WHAT!? Why couldnt he control any of the Strawhats it wouldve been way more interesting seeing a controlled Strawhat vs Strawhat. Hell Law or Zoro vs Luffy woulda been better than the final battle we got. Doflamingo wasnt quite the puppet master I was hoping for. Also the grand fleet eating so much time and fights really bogged down the story. Most people dont care about them. Shoulda been the Strawhats. Why the Fuck did Doflamingo leave King Riku alive. Zero damn reason to keep him alive. Rebecca woulda made sense as a secret heir. It would’ve been great that her journey wouldve been taking back the throne and reclaiming the Honor of her Family. Viola is pointless. Overall Oda tried to make something Grand but some of it Backfired. Some of the hate the arc gets is justifiable and understandable.

i agree, i still dont understand why nobody just cutted his birdcage... i mean, how many haki users there is in that island? zoro alone could've cutted it in a single slice. but nop, it needed to be up for... no reason, also, luffy's 10 minutes wait was a really drag, and the fight itself was TERRIBLE. belamy added NOTHING except being an excuse for why luffy wasnt in the fight alongside Law. and to make matters worse, you keep asking yourself WHY IS THAT GUY DOING NOTHING to the "melted" whatever he was. seriously, and it also didnt help how it was basically "luffy does an absurdly powerfull attack, that does nothing because plot says it doesnt".
@666melodeath6664 жыл бұрын
Lionard Kirsch I meant why didn’t he kill Riku while he still had control over him the first time. Shoulda killed him immediately after he did the massacre. Hell even when he got him again in present day he just took him hostage instead of immediately killing him. The Birdcage is overpowered when even an Admiral cant break it. Ive seen that Morj video before fully understand the themes and story of Dressrossa doesnt mean I automatically have to like all of it. It still bothers me that Doffy has ridiculous powers with his strings like Making a Clone yet Luffy can break out of his strings by Gear 4 with no real explanation. Sugars toy making leaves plotholes. The Arc is overly long and has many charcters i dont care about Yes gladiators become the Grand Fleet but I ddnt care for them at that moment. Overall i love some parts but other parts feel like wasted potential or convoluted.
@666melodeath6664 жыл бұрын
Lionard Kirsch Yeah nobody likes the fact that Pell survived that blast. I have no problem with Doflamingo being strong or having strong haki. My problem is his powers make no sense. Why can u cut Luffy because he is rubber but you cant cut Doflamingo cuz hes String!? They even used haki on birdcage to try and cut it and it didnt work. It just doesnt make sense. Gear 4 was great. Just disappointing Oda didnt find a clever way to break control from Doffy. I just didnt like the designs of the Grand Fleet other than Hajrudin Barto and Cavendish the rest seem forgettable. Didnt want them to go in depth on each one just opinion. Kinda disappointing his Doffys Royal guard werent as interesting as Senor Pink or Baby 5

I wouldn't call Dressrosa an Alabasta clone though there are similarities that are minor enough, but they're still there. To list.1. Both have an arc that builds up what is to come before the actual fight for the advertised kingdom happens, Alabasta has Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island while Dressrosa has Punk Hazard.2. A character who came from said kingdom accompanies the Straw Hats for a bit due to their own personal connection to the main antagonist, Alabasta had Vivi and Dressrosa has Trafalger Law.3. The Straw Hats make accidental friends with one of the people trying to kill them, Alabasta has Mr. 2 and Dressrosa has Baby 5.4. Both have a royal family who are struggling against Warlord of the Sea, Alabasta has Neferati Vs. Crocodile and Dressrosa has Riku's family Vs. Doflamingo.5. A lot of agents of said Warlord have powers similar to each but not really, perhaps it's only coincidence or something like that. *Mr. 5 = Gladius (Explosion related powers including exploding themselves)*Mrs. Valentine = Machvise (Weight manipulation)*Mr. 1 = Baby 5 (Can transform limbs into weapons)*Mrs. Merry Christmas = Senor Pink (Swim in ground in someway, burrowing is technically swimming in dirt)*Mr. 2 = Dellinger (Both don't have powers, but dress in odd clothes that remind people of woman)*Miss Golden Week = Sugar (Some form of mental manipulation even if in direct)*Mr. 3 = Giolla (Both use their Devil Fruit powers in their "art", for 3 it's wax and for Giolla it's sort of reality manipulation)*Mr. 4 = Diamante (I'm stretching it with this one, both are themed after a sport, Mr. 4 is baseball and Diamante is bull fighting/gladiator styled arena)Also on a side note, both have their antagonists try to kill everyone with some murder weapon as a last resort (Alabasta has the clocktower cannon and Dressrosa has the bird cage) and the Straw Hats face a much stronger threat after defeating the an already strong threat who did something no one expected (Alabasta has Eneru and Dressrosa has Big Mom).
