Brook Lopez honestly would be THEE best mentor for this guy. If he could become a bargain bin version of what Lopez was last year then he would be arguably the best backup big in the entire league especially with his drive and competitiveness. The draft isn't a comprehensive list of the talent that ends up in the league. I think it's likely he does at least end up in the G-League at a minimum or have some sort of agreement with a team that they will sign him to get him to a desired location. Notable names who were also undrafted: FVV, Reaves, Seth Curry, RoCo, GP2, Caruso, Kleber, Gabe Vincent, Duncan Robinson, Luke Kornet, Udonis Haslem. And thats only some of the active undrafted players

He would have been perfect for the 2016, I think it was 2016, could have been a year before, Memphis grizzlies. Not many people remember that they were awesome that year and had Golden State down 2-1 and a game at home. This was the first year Golden State was any good. If Memphis had won that close game, It really could have changed NBA history. It would have shown the three-point shooting of the Golden State Warriors was not better than the traditional play that Memphis had, and may have altered how players played and teams drafted. The Golden State won a close series, 4-2, and everyone started throwing up threes after that. Traditional centers started becoming obsolete. Marc Gasoul was amazing, But losing that series doomed to future centers

@@JC-Utopic-Gauntlet I was one year off. It was 2015. The year they kind of came out of nowhere and destroyed the league. While they did have a center, They were throwing up threes at a rate not seen before, I believe. Memphis was such a a traditional, 90's era team. Usually people emulate champions, so if the warriors don't win that, i have always wondered what would have happened with that style. Who knows, maybe nothing, but maybe it slows down the frequency of shooting 3's. I do believe it is an underrated moment in NBA history, one not many people think about.

Ok...getting so sick of this every year... Logic and common sense here... This has been going on for decades...with the argument "the NBA is a different game"...that "certain" college players' skills don't "translate" to the next level. I'm sorry, but if you dominate in a "lesser" league, and aren't given a chance at the next level...yet those that don't dominate in that lesser league, yet they are the ones drafted higher over you in that same next level...then maybe that "next level" is garbage and for lesser basketball players. Hence why the NBA product is horrible...and the same goes for the NFL. Seems like there's an agenda with how they shape the league. And STOP with the BS, "they don't play defense"- NO ONE does in the NBA. And real athletes know- Athleticism is NOT just straight line speed and vertical leap....it also includes timing, hand eye coordination, agility, vision, awareness, broad jump, change of direction, strength, and power.

Drew is a great player under the net in the paint. He suffered from lack of 3 point shooting. If he fixes that problem he'll remain grest.

Most of the drafted players do not make it in the NBA. Some of the best NBA players were not first rd picks. Drew Timme was one of the best players in the college game. The NBA is changing and the Nuggets/Heat were good examples of this. Jokic showed the world that big centers can be more versatile and effective in the NBA. I think Timme could be another Jokic-type player, unathletic but still dominates. The traditional big man is making a comeback and adding new skill sets to come with it. There has to be a different reason why nobody picked him up. Hes too good not to get an NBA deal. I wont be surprised if he eventually plays in the NBA next season and succeeds.

First of all, Drew Timme will make it in the NBA. Sure he can't run or jump, but neither could Larry Bird. That's not to say that Timme is another Bird; he's not, but like Bird he knows what to do with the basketball & he's a smart passer & has great court vision: he knows where everybody is an any one time. Now, because Timme runs & jumps like he's white, he'd be lit up like a cheap pinball machine by LeBron, but Timme could take a slower, less talented LeBron inside & fish him funny. Think and 1's, assists, & smart set-ups if playing against a Cazzie Russell or a Bill Bradley or John Stallworth. I see Timme as a power forward who could start against a few teams, but can be brought in as a quality power forward later in the track meet. Without a doubt, Timme is a high contrast player who can be brought in to turn on the microwave, and then, be yanked for a faster, better jumping athlete. Don't be thinking Timme & Chet Holgrem; think someone who runs like Westbrook, Fox, or Morrant. Like you said, Matt B, Timme works for the right team, in the right circumstances.

this is calculated to make him work for it in the G league and send him the message his shot and court abilities needs to improve even though he demonstrated in the combine that he was the best player on the floor, plus the NBA is a good old boy system. lunch pail guys have to break in work with a shot coach and model this guy after luka and he's a solid player - agree most of the draft picks don't pan out they try to out athlete everyone and they don't have the brain game - there's a new tone now that Jokic demonstrated chess vs checkers

I'm going to disagree w/ your analysis of Drew Timme on the basis that he was 'the guy' on a stacked Gonzaga team that has seen two players, Chet Holmgren and Jalen Suggs, go in the 1st round as lottery picks. Drew stood out. I'm borderline shocked he didn't get picked up. Basketball is slowly getting like baseball from the standpoint that if you're playing in college, scouts almsot look at you like if you were that great you would have picked up out of high school (or 1 yr of college) and that's sad.

NBA drafts on potential. What, do they have a crystal ball? The real reason is they saw Adam Morrison part II staring them in the face. Yup, another Gonzaga great and one of the biggest busts in history. I think all the guys you mentioned could have solid journeyman careers in the league or overseas, with Oscar needing the most work. Hope he finds a home and takes this wakeup call seriously. He was a BEAST at WVU. Timme has pretty quick feet on the offensive side, not so much on D.

The good things he said timme does is what Jokic does, back downs, spin moves, good in the pick and roll, middies, Jokic does shoot 3’s, and Timme could for sure learn that, and Jokic is also one of the slowest and un-athletic players in the league, Jokic also plays zero defense…I’m not a Timme fan either but he is just a few inches shorter than Joker, and has a lot of the same skills, minus being a good passer or 3 point shooter, a good NBA coaching staff could get him right, he will get picked up by somebody I’m sure

College basketball has little to do with NBA preparedness. Teams are drafting 19yr olds so they can develop them from scratch and not have to undo NCAA teaching. How many division w 1 schools turn out game ready upperclassmen? Villanova? Wichita State?
