That’s very helpful. I will appreciate your help on this: is it possible to record in the iPhone camera app in stereo, with the 2 channels properly panned left and right? Thanks!

Thanks for the video. Can you try having a phone call? Will you be able to hear the quest via the headphone Jack on the F3?

I have an Ai1 interface and I also use 2 wires connecting to the big usb like from a computer. Then it works best. I always turn it on instead of a large usb, so as not to burden the small contacts of telephone plugs. Greetings from Poland.

Is there any way to get wired timecode ?

Not all lightning cables support audio transfer including apple’s propriety cables !! You need MFi-certified cables to carry the audio signal so try rode SC 19 or SC 21 cables (USB C to Lightning) it will work flawlessly!!

Thank you for the tip! I have not delved deeply into this topic nearly as much as I would like, so I appreciate the input. I will acquire (another) USBC to Lightning that are MFi-certified and see if that is the answer I have been seeking. Stay tuned!

Hi. I tried the Rode SC21 cable and am not able to get it to work. I have firmware v2.0 on my Zoom F3, connecting to an iPhone 11 (iOS v16.5). After setting the audio interface setting on the F3 to Tablet>Linear it still won't work (I've also tried selecting the "float," and PC/MAC options). Any suggestions as to what I may be missing here? Thanks!

Is there any way to have a powerbank power the F3 whilst it is in USB interface mode connected to iphone via camera kit adapter?

Recording that way to the iPhone in 32-bit mode will not clip audio?
@thepodcastingstore Жыл бұрын
Yes, it will if your app cannot handle the 32-bit float. I tried this with my four year-old whispering and shouting and it clipped it in the recording. I also encountered this same problem when recording directly into Audactiy using the F3 as an interface. Audacity can handle the 32-bit float just fine, but my computer could not process it, so the recording got clipped. The easiest solution to this was to record to the SD card and then load it into Audacity, rather than try to record directly. Hope this makes sense! I have the aforementioned four year-old on my lap as I type this!

Hey, thank you very much for your video. I can record song with my iPhone but not in the same in zoom F3 they are a possibility with this configuration please?

If I am understanding your question properly, you seem to be having trouble using the F3 as a interface between the microphone and the iPhone? If that is the case, I would recommend trying the line out to lightning method and see if that works. Alternatively, if you are trying to use your iPhone as a sound source and record it into the F3, that is something I've never attempted! I'm not sure if this is possible, since the F3 is made to capture sound through the XLR inputs. It could possibly work through the USB-C connection, but I've never tried it and it seems well beyond the scope of what it was designed to do. Hopefully this helps!

I tried to copy your way. i bought usb a female to lightning adaptor OTG so i can use the otg for flash drive to iphone, but when i connect adaptor to iphone and connected to f3 using usb a to type cable, there are still no signal from iphone. strange. what's the problem?. Greetings from Indonesia

My first guess is that the USB A to Lightning adapter is not MFI (Made For iPhone). I've encountered that problem a few times with inexpensive cables that are useful only for charging the iPhone, not data transfer. I had tried a similar setup a while back when I tried to connect a USB microphone as a audio source into my iPhone. Having said that, are you using the iPhone as a sound source to record into the F3? I've never attempted it in that direction, so I'm not sure the best method of accomplishing that.

@@thepodcastingstore Sound source is from f3 using rode lavalier plus rode vxlr+ with phantom power on. in zoom f3, the mic pick up the signal but not in the iphone although using adaptor lightning to usb a. I thought maybe the usb a to type c cable is the problem, same like you said maybe because inexpensive cable and not mfi certified. then i went to LINDY company and tried all their Mfi certified cables from usb type c to lightning mfi certified (i tried to connect directly from zoom f3 to iphone without adaptor) still not working, iphone cannot pickup signal from lavalier then tried usb a to type c (with this metode i used adaptor otg female usb a to lightning connect to iphone) still not working. fyi all the cables are capable data transfer and charging, so i check rode sc 19 spec and it said that the cable is not capable for sync and charging. only for audio, but i can't try rode sc 19 cable so i don't know is it working or not. maybe the adaptor is the problem?

@@weiliang133 I think you're on the right track suspecting the adapter. Silly question and forgive me if you've done this: did you set the F3 to interface mode? When connecting it via the USB-C, you need to select this. The downside is you are not able to record to the SD card in this mode. If you're wanting to record to the iPhone and the SD card simultaneously, you'll need to use the line out or headphone out and adapt it from TRS to lightning. I've not been super happy with the results doing it this way, so instead I record to the SD card and align the audio and video in DaVinci Resolve. Hope this helps!

I keep getting invalid file. Any ideas ?
@thepodcastingstore Жыл бұрын
A couple of ideas. 1. Have you tried a different SD card? If the one you're using is damaged or otherwise not working, this could be a simple fix. 2. Have you reformatted the SD card? Something on it may have become corrupted and this could fix it. 3. Have you tried the SD card with a different device? If it works on your computer, GoPro, or other device nut not the F3, then the problem is likely with the F3. In that case I would make sure the firmware is up to date. And if that does not solve it, it may be a defective unit (fingers crossed it is not!). Those are the steps I would take to troubleshoot if it is the software, SD card, or the F3. Hope this helps!
