Well no, but it's the MOST pie of the pie-like pizza pies. Detroit has its own type of deep dish if I'm not mistaken, and focaccia and Sicilian sfincione (from which Chicago style deep dish and pan pizzas can trace their roots to) are also just pie like thick pizzas. I would highly recommend trying the thing here in Chicago first. The best deep dish you can get is from Pequods, and my recommendation (against probably what most Chicagoans would say) would be to order it with pepperoni. If you want stuffed pizza like this? Best best is Giordano's. It hink Giordano's you can get shipped across the country. Might be the case with lou malnati's too though not sure.
