In this video I make a huge, full-size tv wall and use it as a window to anywhere in the world. This TV window is made of three 75" 4k tvs that work together to display one 12' image. The TV's are framed into the wall to make them look as much like a real window as possible. Great idea to lighten up a dark basement or office with an amazing view. In the future I'd like to be able to watch movies, play games and have a live video feed of my backyard that I can use as a window 24/7.
Contest details:
This contest is not associated or endorsed by KZbin in anyway.
Winner must find all six 4-digit codes throughout the video and message them to me on instagram @drewbuildsstuff in the format:
1. xxxx
2. xxxx
3. xxxx
4. xxxx
5. xxxx
6. 0385 (given)
The first three people to send me the correct codes will receive a 11x17" black walnut and black epoxy charcuterie board that was handmade by me. I will pay for shipping, however you may be responsible for any outstanding duty, customs or fees upon delivery.
I likely will not respond to every Instagram message, only the winners.

Curtains are a good idea. Overuse of this 'window' could drive a person insane. The bare black screen might be even worse. But how about nighttime scenes. Moon and stars like at the planetarium, with a fire burning low in the forground. The red embers make you sleepy. Time to close the curtains.

Clever trick editing the video files. Another method that should work well is a PC with a dedicated graphics card, then configure AMD Eyefinity or NVIDIA Surround depending which gpu you go with. This should make the OS think you're using 1 monitor instead of the 3. You might need a displayport to hdmi 2.0 adapter. I haven't used Eyefinity in a while but it was pretty good when i tested it years ago.

Couple questions, 1. How do you do the settings to view the picture to that angle instead of the traditional way? 2. What did you do to have the video play like that on 3 different tv’s and where did you get the streaming video?

well, im only three minutes in, so idk what he did. but i can tell you how to do it on a PC if you have three monitors or tvs connected to your pc, you can go to settings and search for monitors you click the "arrange multiple displays" tab and then if you have monitors plugged in, they should show up in a small window where you can drag them around and change their position and rotation (display mode>landscape/portrait/flipped landscape/flipped portrait) hopefully this makes sense! like i said, i have no clue how he did it yet, if he did it on the TV's settings or if he did it with a computer.

@DrayClay
@DrayClay Жыл бұрын
@@keithcress1335 you got a point there. There is some short throws that have come down in price significantly though. I’m talking in the 1,200 - 2,400 bracket. That price is without the ALR screen though so your point is still valid. I wonder how hot those tv’s make it?
@DrayClay
@DrayClay Жыл бұрын
@@DimiArhontidis would probably have to mod a ALR screen. Could split up the backgrounds the same way but add the black border in the background themselves so the project displays black in that area. That way the image won’t be projected onto the frame.
@keithcress1335
@keithcress1335 Жыл бұрын
Still like your projector idea over a bunch of hot FP displays. I wonder if you could use conventional laser ceiling mounted projectors and get the effect for a lot less energy, money, and reduce the build complexity to just the window frame and a faux wood ceiling beam just big enough to hide diminutive projectors. I know you can get 4k ones for under $1k but they might have issues I don't recognize. Or a single $2+k unit that would ''home theater" the whole wall! Add a digital frame overlay to put in the window frame, dump it for BIG screen tv?

This is awesome, basically what I want. But there's ONE UP. What is the footage was shot really high definition, 180º wide, or stitched from multiple camera's? With eye tracking and a 3D engine of sorts, the picture would be adjusted for the perspective you'd have viewing the scene from an actual set of windows.
@Cloxxki
@Cloxxki 2 ай бұрын
These scenes could well be relatiely short looped video's, right? Well, if they were shot/modeled in 3D, with enough wiggle room that the scene would adjust for the few meters you can move around the room (sit/jump, for/aft, left/right), software would calculate your POV in the "game" and real time adjust. How much lag would there be...under 10 ms?
@Cloxxki
@Cloxxki 2 ай бұрын
Similarly but with multiple cameras, the screens could turn into almost perfect mirrors. The room is 3D modelled relative to the fixed cameras, the person in the room is projected as is. Could even be slighly predictive to minimize lag (same for previous 3D window idea). With TV's on more than one wall, the 3D effect of them pretending to be mirrors would be even closer to real. Sadly, there is a better solution with boring mirror film of functioning TVs, lame! :-D Still, fun to replay a scene from a given (shifted) perspective. Stand right in front of yourself doing a dance routine, with or without VR headset.

Very awesome build. Really surprised you couldn't get away with triple screen with a computer, but none the less, well done! Also, your light strip is more than likely using a RF (radio frequency)and not a IR (infrared) receiver/transmitter since you said you were able to control it in other rooms. I accidentally bought a RF one for a project. Which is nice, you can have multiples in a area and not have to worry about changing settings on all of them at the same time if you don't want to, and don't have to be in line of sight either for the receiver to pick it up
