He called it "Isola delle Rose" and wanted it to get it recognised as a nation. He chose an anthem, made stamps to promote the island and so on. Of course the Italian authorities weren't happy about it and they literally blew it up, while the owner was away.

In Europe the Numa Numa song was quite a well known song without that other video. The official video clip with that airplane is still one of the most memorable music videos i've ever seen. Back in the day when music on TV was still a huge deal. Also during the summers this was one on the most played song on the radio for multiple years. And as a kid i've even learned that whole lyrics and then claimed to people that i could speak Romanian😂
