4:02 That country ball joke only really works when you know the real life story, so here is the short version: There is a military testing ground in Germany. People in the area started complaining about the noise, so they actually developed a suppressor for self propelled artillery guns. You can find many images of it online.

@R2k22 жыл бұрын
Aaah, that explains something.... I know these devices exist, but they look very hard to move around in the field during battle which has a big disadvantage: My first thought was like : "So you have to set up some scaffolding, build the suppressor on top of it, move the tank-barrel IN to it, and hope the enemy comes from that direction". This means that every benefit a tank has compared to a cannon is lost, AND it will cost a couple of hours to lose that benefit!

The Kraut and the Frog have many colorful nicknames for each other. "Schneckenfresser" is just the classic "snail eater". "Porc ivre" is not used at all but it translates to "drunk pork", combining two classic stereotypes.
@DaRealKakarroto2 жыл бұрын
Just a little bonus information: the translation for 'eater' is technically correct, there is a difference between 'esser' and 'fresser' though, the first one is pretty neutral whereas 'fresser' has a very negative leaning, it's much more vulgar, more like 'eating without manners' or 'eating a whole lot without restrain' or 'eating like an animal' and can easily seen as an insult.
@cypres80332 жыл бұрын
"Kraut" would be more like "Boche" in French. It is a word used to refer pejoratively to the Germans. It was used since the 1870's but now it is not used that much anymore to be fair, just like "rosbif" to refer to the British/English.
