Along with decolonization, they did not leave “financially” if that makes sense. It’s hard to explain, but people think that Switzerland is a tax haven for example… the United Kingdom (and London alone) is over 3/4 of the worlds hedge funds, over half of offshore assets, and has over 40% reach in the worlds global market. Even private banks would much rather cash in the money they are owed from a foreign power to loan it to their government rather than letting their country go bankrupt like Greece did since that would screw them over as well. So either way, it's still money Japan has access to at any time if they're in trouble.

Typical english speaker mistakes. The English pronunciation often is the outlier and not the standard along the European langages. Especially with the vowels, almost every country uses single phonemes in their alphabet, only English has two on each one. And the 'e' in 'ie' is always pronounced as a length marker, like the 'h' in 'ih' or 'ii'. Somehow 'ei' and 'ie' got reversed in English...
