Brazilian here: I learned about the Korean War, Napoleonic Wars, many "Latin" America wars of Independences (mainly Mexico, Argentina, Paraguay and Haiti), and many other wars around the world.... but I never even heard of the War of 1812. When we learn about USA on wars usually its their Independence, Civil War, WW1 and WW2, Vietnam and War on Terror... and not much else

Yeah if you were to learn to that level of detail you would have to learn about a lot of other relatively minor conflicts in history around the world. We learn about it because it's American history, as I assume you would learn more about your own country.

Acually, Russia did consent to Nato Expansion in a treaty from 1996. There are multiple Videos about it, one was "shut up about NATO expansion", if you need more Details. Even Putin himself verbally consented to it in 2004.

@@mariotheundying "working together with each other" is exaggerated: of course then wanted to keep up the "we are friends now" image, but Russia was back then already a autocracy again, they already had invaded Moldova and Dagestan (twice, they concered them the 2nd time after they bombed thier capitol to rubbel) and Russia wasn't happy, that NATO stopped a few Serbian massacres (some could be call genocides) during the Yugoslav wars. So relations were already cooling quickly. In the end of the day this doesn't matter, eastern Europe isn't under the suzeranity of Russia, so they can chose thier foreign relations as they want. NATO isn't a threat to Russia, its only a "thread" to Russian Imperialism.

There are two problems with the meme in the thumbnail: 1. The Soviet Union and NATO nor the United States ever agree on legal paper that NATO won't expand into Eastern Europe. It was more of a verbal understanding with George H.W. Bush and Mikhail Gorbachev. And Because it was just two world leaders having a verbal understanding instead of two countries having an agreement on legal papers, It doesn't count as a betrayal. 2. NATO didn't expand into Eastern Europe until the late 1990s. And the Soviet Union dissolved in the early 1990s. And with former members of the Soviet Union becoming their own independent country. Yeah, The Soviet Union couldn't oppose NATO expansion into Eastern europe because it no longer existed. 3. As far as I know, neither NATO nor the United States had any agreement with the Russian federation that NATO won't expand into Eastern Europe on legal papers. And yes, Russian leaders during NATO expansion into Eastern Europe did verbally oppose it. But that doesn't mean NATO couldn't expand into Eastern Europe. American leaders verbally oppose the communism bloc expansion into Asia but that didn't mean the communism bloc couldn't expand into Asia. (P.S. I'm not hating on Drew, I actually enjoy his videos and think he is a great KZbinr. I'm just making a correction to what a meme on a thumbnail of Drew video said.)
