The "Bundesregierung" label in the German Problem -> Solution diagram means federal government. Being from Germany, can confirm that part of the meme is 110% accurate.

Yep, perfectly describes our German "efficiency". Best examples are the Stuttgart 21 rail project or the Berlin Airport. It takes much longer to build than anticipated, it costs a lot more than anticipated and in the end the thing is broken/ outdated so you have to invest even more money to fix it.

Yes, its quite accurate. I takes ages to decide upon anything, if we do we throw around alot of money and it takes an additional age to get it finalized. And in the end we have half a solution. It kinda works, but just isnt good enough, espeically for the money and time involved. The Airport Berlin-Brandenburg is the perfect example. Its a fully operational airport - its just extremely outdated since the moment it opened.

Parisian here, the bed bug epidemy is a little overexaggerated by the foreign media (and it’s kinda funny to watch people freak out over it). There are 88 movie theaters in the city and yes, 6 have been signaled as infected, over a month ago. Same for the train/metro, these are marginal phenomena. Haven’t even heard anyone talk about it for about 3 weeks. It was a thing at the beginning of september but by now, the theaters have probably all been treated. You should still be careful though, but nothing to be paranoid about. It’s not like there are bugs everywhere either. I hope you enjoyed your trip nonetheless. That being said, the olympics still have 9 months go very wrong

As a Portuguese, I would agree with the Portugal and Brazil part, but the temperamental island people are clearly Cape Verdians and the unintelligible are definitely Azores, or if choosing from a former colony, then Timor Leste (East Timor). PS: Angolan Portuguese and Mozambican Portuguese are the best ones. (not taking into account Portuguese Portuguese, because I am obviously biased).

As someone who's experienced living with bedbugs before, I am sorry for ur loss of sanity. May that itchy feeling finally go away. (In 2010-2012 my family lived in Pennsylvania. We got bedbugs the first time when we were there for summer vaca, staying with family in one of their houses. It got infested while we were visiting but thankfully, we didn't being any back home with us and they managed to get rid of them shortly after. Then, i think it was in 2011, after we moved there fully, we were living in this huge apartment complex with an average landlord (aka awful) n someone got bedbugs. So it was spread through the whole building pretty quickly. We ended up moving to the apartments in another building (it was a 3 building complex) and left the bedbugs behind. But we lived with them for about a yr and it was horrible. I feel bad for Paris and hope any tourists learn how to not bring them back home. Once they're in a location, it's hell to remove them. Not as bad as getting rid of cockroaches tho. The building we moved to had those 😑. Safe to say, we loaded up our moving van (u-haul) about half a month before we moved back to MA to kill all the roaches with the late spring, early summer heat. Sadly, my mom's record collection was lost cuz vinyl doesn't do well with oven level heat.

Language changes tend to start at the source and then expand outward in waves. So by the time the American colonies were fully formed, their respective European languages had already changed considerably, making the colonial dialects the older ones as it took them a while longer to "capture" the new changes, if at all. So the English, French, Portuguese and Spanish spoken in the Americas are technically older in origin than their European counterparts.

Ah. I was wondering what the French were on about with that one because the official state dinners Germany holds for guests are lavish affairs in a castle. This was just Scholz and Macron grabbing a snack on the go. And apparently the French take it as an insult that not every meal Macron had in Germany was several hours of diplomatically relevant fine dining so stiff that you just wanna go home? Like, these are leaders of nations and they are busy. Taking a quick meal like that seems like a demonstration of intimate familiarity and pragmatic thinking. You just can't do fancy presentation all day, every day if you want to actually get work done. Formal dinners are for rare guests seeking to tentatively make connections. Informal snacking is for friends and colleagues.
