I'm truck camping in Idaho and fly fishing 4 amazing streams! Here's the extended video with a ton of extra footage that would not fit in the 15-minute weekly vids (parts 15-19). This is one week of my 9-week truck camping road trip thru Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. I lived off the grid and filmed every day...sharing the adventure now that I'm home and back on the grid. This portion was filmed near the end of August 2021. See parts 15-19 for more video on each stream.
I started my 9 week road trip on July 31, 2022, and spent roughly 3 weeks in WY, ID and MT. Check out all the videos from this trip in the playlist linked below:

Not sure why I care, because I watch for the fishing, but I miss the cooking/camp life portions of your past video series.

Showing the camping portions makes it much easier to figure out where he is. As these are my home waters, I’m appreciative he’s not making it too easy to figure it out.

@Craig Borrenpohl I dont want his spots. I have hunted and fished in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming my entire life. I don't recognize a single river or stream he has fished. He shows his selected campsite at the beginning of nearly every video. That argument doesn't hold water. I was talking about him cooking and chilling in camp. If his cooking and chilling at the back of the truck after dinner is giving extra clues to his location, different from the camp location shots, then I am slow on the uptake. Tight lines, my friend.

Some fishermen, and ladies, who do videos, get VERY excited and take the tranquility out of the adventure. Fly fishing is a place I find peace. And Drew, you always help me find it. Thank you so very very much. Tight lines my friend.

Went small stream fishing in Idaho and the usual larger waters 82-86. Never found any Cutts but got a Rainbow the size of the fish at 24:21. If I had caught a Cutt that big, he would have been a trophy on my wall! Wish I could go back and do some fishing and hunting. I miss the beauty and solitude there. Thank you for warming up my winter evening!

Very nice locations. I created my KZbin channel and social media pages yesterday for my vlogging aspirations. I have so much to learn. You are a great story teller and your minimalist use of cameras (one GoPro Hero 10?) is artful. Your videos are so awesome, but I still have my own ideas, and since I am changing my residency from CO to BC when I go fulltime in my 20' Airstream, I'll be all over North America going north and south with the seasons. 😁 🎣

Idaho is beautiful but Drew you are not at all worried about bears or cougars ? I grew up in Montana and we always had eyes in the back of our heads so to speak we were always packing heat just in case. Be safe and your videos are fishtastic!

I was in Kalispell solo back in the 90's, headed for the Bob Marshall Wilderness. At the bar the night before they told me to take a gun. I said I would chance it with the grizzlies. They said it wasn't the grizzly they were concerned about. I fished the South Fork of the Flathead and a few creeks in Glacier. No cougars or grizz but in Glacier I was fishing near a big pile of day-old grizzly dung. I was singing the Ballad of Jed Clampett all day long! Caught some nice cutts in Glacier.

Thanks for more great footage! Been thinking about trying some of what you do(someday) and wondering your thoughts. After watching some of the roads you take, some can be a bit rough. What is your opinion on a 4 wheel drive sprinter type set up compared to 4x4 pickups such as yours? Do you feel an offroad sprinter could tackle most of the roads you see out there?
@edp1801
@edp1801 Жыл бұрын
Yes, your sprinter will handle 90% of roads. You might skip the narrow paths so you don't scratch up your rig.

I often pause to look at streams and say to myself, "Nah, too shallow, too fast, rapids everywhere", and yet you prove me wrong every time. I just can't believe the fish you are pulling out of those fast shallow streams. Here is a weird observation that's likely just an illusion, I try to follow your cast, but the strikes always seem to be a lot closer than I was looking at.
@tony52398

Ricardo where do you fish? Especially his Idaho videos the water looks way way slower and calmer than where I usually fish
@ricardochong6834
@ricardochong6834 Жыл бұрын
@@tony52398 Ontario, Canada. There are hardly any trout streams in my area, mostly brookies in small creeks. The game in the rivers here are bass, crappie and walleye. Out east by Windsor I have caught large rainbows (10 pounds plus) in larger rivers. Central and eastern Ontario also have the salmon runs and some Browns. But cut throats like what Drew is catching? Unless I have passed up opportunities by thinking "too fast, too shallow", then nothing here.
@ricardochong6834
@ricardochong6834 Жыл бұрын
@@tony52398 Oh, I should also explain that my kind of fishing experience is like what you see on NDYakAngler and what Drew does is very much different. I have always specifically gone after bass, walleye, crappie and pike. This is why I love to watch Drew's videos and ask questions. Besides, the scenery he finds is leagues better than what I have been used to. Also I really don't fish much anymore because, at 71, there are age related issues (stamina for one).

@@reneguay1347 unless it's a popular, well known fishery, like Henry's lake, Henry's fork, snake river, broadcasting the locations of trout water is practically a sin. It's not good. When you put in the work, often for years, even decades, to finding special water, you'll understand. That said, there's well known, easy access water with world class fishing all over Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. One of my best spots to guarantee fish over 20 inches, and an 18 inch average, is well known, it has a nick name. It's funny, people make flyfishing videos like right by my place, but I'll drive 2 or 3 hours sometimes to fish. Finding water on your own is also part of the adventure. I'll say this for fun. Somewhere in Idaho, you can camp, not far from a road. You can go from soaking in a hot spring to having a bent rod in about 10 minutes, if that. If you find the area I'm talking about you're going to find a river that'll ruin you. Every hole is huge and worthy of a magazine cover, and they just get better as you drive upstream. When you find places like this, you'll see why people keep it to themselves. Good luck.
