WHAT IS DISCUSSED IN THIS VIDEO
With increasing age, about 100% of people with have demodex living on their face and eyelids. Among the 65 species of demodex, 2 are commonly found on the face and eyelid skin; demodex folliculorum and demodex brevis. These face and eyelid mites can cause a lot of issues and problems if they grow out of control. They have been linked to rosacea, ocular rosacea, blepharitis, puffy eyelids, dry eyes, and more. Among the people that have blepharitis, nearly 7 out of 10 of those cases, are caused by demodex, called demodex blepharitis. There are a few remedies and treatments that can be effectice, including: tea tree oil wipes or cleansers, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), or medications like a new drop called Xdemvy.

My eye mites started building up after my cataract surgery. I could actually feel them moving around. I searched the internet and found eye mites and immediately knew I had them. Ivermectin cream once then the next week took care of them or at least got them under control. No more problem a year later and if they regrow I know what to do. I believe the topical antibiotics from the eye surgery cleaned out some bacteria that were limiting the mites.

Hi, all i know was my eye lids were always red, had what i thought was sleep in my eye lashes and suffer dry eye to the point i couldn't do anything because my eyes were watering all the time for up to good 30 mins, i was advised baby shampoo, how awesome it can't hurt me cause it's for babies, the trick is to wet eye lashes, put some baby shampoo on 2 fingers, enough for both eyes, rub the opposite fingers, then apply to eyes, wash in at all different angles to free up the crust, massage for anywhere up to 5 mins, the longer the better i feel, i used it till my eyelids were normal again, after that everytimes i saw redness return, i would treat again, now i haven't had to treat again for a long time. The baby shampoo has low ph so it doesn't burn as bad, it doesn't dry the skin out either and lastly it's cheaper than most products. I hope this help someone, like this vid helped me understand the unknown. In a way it's like having dandruff only on ur eye lashes...

If these demodex are mites , one thing ive noticed about mites in gardens that they quickly become immune to pesticides, so what ive noticed is if you treat for mites with a pesticide you need to hit them a day or two later with an entirely different pesticide and it usually wipes them out. , since these are on the body you probably can only use certain things but if you use basically the one two punch like with pesticides you might have greater success. So maybe tea tree oil one time and something else a day or two later.

Doctor, you may find that your Manuka honey cream is just made with plain honey. The manuka honey production is only a few tons per year from New Zealand, however at this time, there are 10 times more fir sale in the world. They are obviously just standard honey. The real thing, which I purchased from NZ is very dark brown, very thick but not solid, and does not taste that nice. A good natural way to get rid of these mites is to boil some fresh rosemary in water and use it as compresses once cooled down. If you don't have any fresh plants, get some essential oil and mix it with water or eye cream.

My sons pediatrician saw my allergy eyes and gave me a great remedy. Born in north no allergies..as teen we moved south, lots of allergies. My eyelashes fall out, wake up gummy eyes. Doctor told me rose water or Baby shampoo..one little drop in palm of clean hand, add a little water, lather it into your closed eyes and rinse. It cleaned it up right away and no red eyes. Eyelashes grew back and it never came back, I never wore mascara bc of this.. I did use eyeliner..no problem..when was young I would do this once a month to keep it away, later moved to a northern country no allergies. But I stil now and then clean my eyes. My brother same problem. Tea tree did nothing for me and made my eyes oily. Just use baby shampoo add a little water, wash and done. No side affects.

Probably because your immune system is weakened. Many seniors get way more affected by this "condition" because their bodies can't keep the mites in check so an over abundance of them cause issues - rosacea, eyes, hair loss, etc. We always have some of them on our skin but we keep in controlled through youth.

Have never been able to wear mascara, or other eye makeup. Only relief i ever get is washing face multiple times a day. Once i got the 'trashcan diagnosis', MS, everything is now written off as another symptom. Basic eye drops help, but never knew there were actually treatments to end the mite infestation i now suspect has buggered me for years. Thank you again. Blepharitis is caused by ducts getting blocked. Blink ten times. Towards the end can you feel moisture, that’s the ducts opening. To begin with, blink 40 times 5 times a day for two weeks. Then as things improve reduce but keep the morning and one before bed regimes going. I now blink about 100 times in bed just before I go to sleep and have been blepharitis free for four years now. No, treatments just normal soap night and morning no product ever worked for me. Let me know how you get on after a couple of months.

What works for me is colloidal silver spray and organic castor oil. I use the colloidal silver if it looks like it might be coming back, just 1 spray onto the lashes but use castor oil every evening. Works brilliantly but is not a total cure. Every month or so the colloidal silver stops it before it becomes a bother. 🙂

My doctor said to just put a hot wet towel over my eyes before bed. I just run a small flanel under the hot water, wring it out and roll it up and place it over my eyes while I lay on the bed till the towel goes cold. Has helped clear up symptoms, but I think the cause is still there, going to try some of these wipes maybe that will clear it up for good.

I was diagnosed with Demodex Blepharitis and had initially eyelash scrubs. When that was not helping that much my doctor prescribed xDemfy. That did clear most of the problem but it has come back so I haven't found a solution yet. I'm going to try two of your suggestions here. TY for the informative video.

If something is that bad, there's probably more than one cause. so this probably could be one of them. Plus allergies. Plus maybe a bacterial infection. Plus maybe smog or soot in air, if it's that bad.

Thank you so much for posting this video Dr. Eye! I am 52 and have been suffering from dry eye and foreign objects in my eyes for few years. When I went to my new eye Dr. at the end of the visit she said btw, you have mites, very short no explanation, so thank you for the detailed explanation! Now my question: do I need to stop using makeup during my treatment? Do I need to throw away the eye makeup I have?
@DrEyeGuy

What about Boric Acid Solution? That is what was used for sticky gooey eyes for a morning eye wash on farms and ranches where I come from... you would dampen a cloth in a Boric Acid Solution and wipe the crusty gunk away usually from children's eyes that had the eyecrap in the morning.

Could screen time and blue light promote the presence of these critters? Thanks for sharing.
@DrEyeGuy
@DrEyeGuy 29 күн бұрын
Blue light is not associated with an increase of demodex, at least as far as I know. Screen time can be associated with meibomian gland dysfunction and dry eyes with blepharitis... so it could be associated with demodex blepharitis.

I had rosacea for years but it went away months ago for what reason I can't confirm but I have read when first diagnosed that demodex was believed to be the cause of it. There used to be all kinds of hypotheses about what caused rosacea: alcohol, spicy food, you name it. They trotted all of them out.

Had rosacea for nearly 40 years, none of the much trotted out reasons applied to me until I read about demodex mites. The only treatment I've tried that works long term is ivermectin cream which acts as an insecticide. I'm glad it's getting more acknowledged because years ago my doctor didn't believe rosacea was caused by mites.

@r.1599
@r.1599 21 күн бұрын
If it's ointment, it's probably the thick petroleum jelly that's doing the trick. Antibiotics only kill bacteria, and demodex aren't bacteria. That pin prick sensation could very well be a demodex chomping on your cell cytoplasm.
