Remember to raise you knee high prior to striking with the kick. That is helpful for landing a thrust kick with a strong impact. Refer to the French discipline of Savate and the Sache Ba. Aim for the hip or the top of their knee for maximum effect on your opponent's balance. However, if the goal is to open for a downward stirke with the blade, then I'm sure a faster, straighter motion is going to be valuable as well
@Dreynschlag8 жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks for your helpful input! As you have already mentioned there are several ways to kick in this situation. We have chosen the pushing kick, because it is relatively easy to perform and depicted in some fencing treatises. However this episode isn’t only meant to teach a specific technique, but a basic principle: “Fencing” (or “Fechten” in German) originally means “to fight”. So fight with everything you have. And that’s not only the blade but the pommel, the crossguard, wrestling (which includes strikes, locks and kicks) etc.
