I'm a 65 year old male. 6' 2" and 198 pounds. Weight train 5 days a week. Protein intake is 240 grams per day. Still working a full time job. Many people think I look like I'm in my mid forties. My point is protein and resistance training are absolutely needed in order to age well. Love the podcast.

Fantastic! Your an inspiration - but how many servings of protein per sitting and how many times a day? Confused what the maximum amount of protein intake for a man of 6'3" weighing 200 lbs?? Thank you

So important to talk about protein, and fat. I prefer to have meat for my first meal of the day, around 50 grams of protein.

About or at least 5 hours if I recall, which is why Layman doesn't worry about protein at lunch, as long as you meet your daily requirement, and get enough at breakfast.

Very fascinating though that in the blue zones, such as Okinawa, people are living over 100, while eating minimal protein and mostly fruits/veggies. These people seem to still be very active doing yoga, walking, dancing, etc. I wonder if this is more genetic or does protein really have a dramatic impact on longevity and staying fit/active.

Also I am thinking for longevity you have to have strong community, being active, and has a lot to do with their lifestyle. You can’t just eat lots of protein and sedentary . I am Japanese. Elder people who is always active has great health but modern lifestyle start to destroy younger generations

I believe its the lack of ultraprocessed foods and other toxins that we are getting in our western diet, along with good comminuty, less stress and a strong sense of purpose that is making the blue zone people healthy.

@wendywertz You are correct. Everyone is not the same. As a man, I have to stuff myself in order to consume 100 grams of protein in a day. This is with eating whole, nutritional dense foods. The reason that many people even consume protein powders is that they have to stuff themselves if they used food to achieve their goal amount of protein.

With whey protein is he not concerned about the powder being that fine it can leach through the stomach lining (like harmoginosed milk) thus triggering horrible immune reactions? Just asking out of curiosity.

I need 200 g of protein daily. So he recommends 70 g for breakfast and lunch. Now I need 130g for dinner? Or 65 for mid afternoon and dinner? What am I missing? Sure, it may work if you weigh 120 pounds but I weigh 210.
