This video is super helpful. The class I currently take in Nigeria has nothing on this. We are long done with subnet mask and IP address but I had to come back to this because I know I needed to get this right. Thank you Dale. Blessing from Nigeria

Very explicit. I was trying to understand subnetting for about a week, watched loads of other methods, but this is the only one that was explicit enaugh for me to understand. Thanks and keep up the good work.

This is AMAZING! So glad a fellow student directed me to this. I am pretty excited because I have been in classes where our IT department even brought in professional exam teachers (you know, the guys that are supposed to help you pass exams); and I've gone through a couple different college classes, and TestOut instructions and have NEVER, until now, been able to get this down! I wonder if the professionals even remember how to figure it out, lol! I bet if I asked a couple of our network engineers how to do this, they wouldn't know or remember, if they ever knew ;) THANKS!

Great Video for a beginner like me. One thing I did not get was between min 7:27-7:30. All 11111. Is it because of the boolean expression between 224 and 128 ? Hope I'm clear on my question. Thanks

255-224 = 31, 31-1, sine the first subnet is for broadcasting, so you get 30. 30 hosts available.

Great breakdown! Thank you sir. One thing I didn't understand was how do I know the first three octets is my network address?
@Ryan789005 жыл бұрын
because of the slash notation telling you how many bits are turned on for the network portion
@Ryan789005 жыл бұрын
/27 is 27 bits for the network. IPV4 is 32 bits. 4 octets of 8 bits each

Jump Man66 The last address for the IP address was 192.168.100.159 Hence the IP Address before the last Always is the Broadcast Address Which is 193.168.100.158 Hope U got it??
@samadabdul12426 жыл бұрын
By definition at part 6:58 is confusing. I didn't understand that at all. I'll have to look at some other videos. He explained rest of it pretty well but for someone who's just getting into this, makes no sense.
@gslvqz88125 жыл бұрын
What he tried to convey when mentioned 'by definition' is that by default the Network Address has always 0 bits at the end, because is the VERY FIRST address and the Broadcast address has 1 bits at the end because it is the VERY LAST address in the range of usable hosts. I hope this helps.
@a11Oop9683 жыл бұрын

5:56 There's no explanation of what that line is.
@PineNutButter5 жыл бұрын
that line where the subnet mask ends in binaries. so 224 the 4th octets in binaries is 11100000 you borrow 3 bits from the 4th octet and left with 5 bits which is for the hosts.

how can you add in binary 1+1=1?
@tapasheeurmi65487 жыл бұрын
This is not adding. This is anding. AND-ing
@a11Oop9683 жыл бұрын
I wondered the same, so looked it up: "in the Binary Numbering system, the AND function yields only two possible outcomes, based on four different combinations:" 0 and 0 = 0 1 and 0 = 0 0 and 1 = 0 1 and 1 = 1
