I have a great aunt who is 101, still lives alone and handles all of her own finances. I was reflecting on her life and realized that I had NEVER seen her without a smile on her face and most of the time a “giggle” in her voice. There HAS to be a connection! (She lost 2 husbands and still has that smile)

Many years ago, a friend told me to sit down an make a gratitude list. I thought, 'You just don't know.' But she did. Once I started writing a gratitude list to God, it kept growing and growing. I started seeing more and more things, more situations that God had taken me through, taken my children through.

Daily gratitude and worship towards God is a powerful force. I start out each day with worship music and thanking God in ADVANCE for a day full of blessings. The thoughts and the attitude we adopt each morning is key to having a great day. (Regardless of what comes our way) I actually spent most of my life on depression medication. Developing our relationship with God (meditating on the Word DAILY) and our relationship with others was a big part of getting off of the depression medication.

I can’t agree with you more. Starting off my day with praise and thanking God for all that he has done, is doing, and will do sets my day up for success. I can better navigate my day and all the problems that may come my way. It helps me to have a better mindset for the entire day. It’s a blessing to start my day this way.

Yes! I didn’t know emotional pain and turmoil I wasn’t dealing with was trapped in my body. I was chronically sick for 7 yrs! Until I dealt with the reasons I was sad. I am learning how to work through it and not store emotions up. Releasing things to God that are Gods have helped me be set free. I have been healthy for 3 yrs! You’re work has helped me more than words could express. Thank you dr Cloud.

Bless you Bro. ;) My Mum used to say, 'Well, I've enjoyed what I've had' ! She was very energetic, wacky and friendly, always said 'Grace' at mealtimes. I was more heavily/lightly ...influenced by her example..the older I get. I am presently reading your book, How People Change. Thanks - for a real good read. !

Thank you, Dr. Cloud for interpreting what humility is and how it is tied to gratitude. This is among the best teachings I've seen. I was struggling with humility and lately, I guess, a sense of entitlement (something I never really had), but picked up from a lot of gaslighting and narci abuse going all the way back to childhood and a very bad relationship, that wasn't one. I picked up from that, I'll be homeless in a day and a half and I guess I've been acting out because I've been through homelessness so many times and losing everything, I lost sight of the important things. You hit home about gratitude for me because I have a lot to be grateful for, though my circumstances are pretty devastating right now. I'm going to begin a gratitude journal, I have a weekly one, but I'm going to begin a daily. Thank you so much for clarifying this subject for me. It's going to make a difference, especially with my relationship with God and others.

Hey Dr. Cloud, after a previous relationship, I realized that I have narcissistic tendencies. I felt extremely entitled and it has caused great pain and in some cases irreparable damage to those that I care and love. It’s not who I want to continue to be. This video is so good. There are a lot of videos that are more on the condensing side of narcissism rather than videos that ones with those traits can learn from and change. Thanks again❤

I am grateful for Henry Cloud to provide this video and the research reminded me to tune my heart with more thanksgiving and gratefulness. As I am in a low mood these days and may want to learn from the society, those angry people, to get protected from being lowered. Yet, I want to be a happy person!!

Good morning, I am very grateful to be alive and HEALTHY and live a minimalist life, so I am very grateful. But sometimes my partner says things that really hurt me - in a "playful" way - and when I try to confront him, he says I pick a fight and am not grateful. Thank you for this podcast. You speak of Envy - maybe I expect my partner to treat me in a specific way, so I will work on that. Thank you. I'm grateful for your podcast.

😇 Praise God for you Dr. Cloud & your team. I am so grateful to the Lord, and I think it is for you & my pastors & leadership praying for me getting over my people phobias. But I still feel triggered by all the people around me so happy with their families that I don't have. Maybe it is envy, but one pastor said I am grieving. I wonder if the Lord wants me to open up about that so others can be more sensitive. But I think the secret is to return to our 1st love which is why I am so happy, feel love and joyful and peaceful despite the hurtful circumstances of others treating me badly or disrespectfully. I know all are involved in our own worship. I know that I am so in love with the Lord and focusing on Him gives me perfect peace. and joy and love. I don't have anything that I thought would make me happy. This was a hard week because I saw my daughter & grandkids for a day, and I miss time with them that others enjoy their families every Sunday. I didn't have pain for a long time, & thought God took it away. And then I didn't hear the Lord, so was under attack. The stuff / things that I have are reminders of answered prayers, & my dad took me to Goodwill to shop when he was alive, knowing how much I wanted to look at and we went to garage sales. I also shopped at Goodwill feeling like I have been treated like trash, and the Lord rescued me. I think we get angry from the intense pain. I know I don't deserve anything, but I have the Lord's love rescuing me out of the trash, brushing me off, and hugging me. That's the dynamic tension between His love and me loving others. I try to love my enemies, so I am good with God. I think that makes me grateful because He is grateful for my choice of obedience, the only good love and respect I can give Him. I told a pastor that I feel like I have gained my soul in my relationship with the Lord but lost the world. When I cried out to the Lord about being isolated, He said, "No, set apart." I know I have always been grateful to my husband, when married, but he wasn't, & so left with the kids. I know God turns all things for good, & so I want to help marriages and families. I always tried to affirm my kiddos, & they left needing their dad, but I grieve the lost time together & don't hardly hear from them. So that I know how Papa God feels losing His kiddos when we didn't know the Truth of His Perfect Love. So that is my message, despite the sadness of the world, but the Perfect Presence of Jesus in us. Happy New Year doc! I am so grateful to the Lord for you and sharing your wisdom and teaching.

Gratitude is vital as changes our focus to the positive, tho can take time to get there after the need to vent, be heard & validated about the painful & hard stuff! (whenever that happens). Really..it's doing it God's way! Thnx, Dr Cloud...ur such a blessing to us all! ❤

This is one of the best messages I have heard from Dr. Cloud !! and I love what he has taught for years - if you could only have this message, this would be the one.. This is so packed with great knowledge both scientifically and biblically that it will take a few times to soak it all in - To think that Dr. Cloud does this as his 'side' job is mind blowing. The impact this man has made in this world in his part time hours. In addition to Husband, Father, Grandfather, Friend, church member, Doctor, Author ....... Thank you Jesus

Dr.Cloud, i really enjoy learning from your wisdom and knowledge, especially when you compare the lessons with what the Bible says. Heres my two cents worth! being intowative, as my mother was, iv always been aware of what makes others tick! your observations in this lesson, are spot on! Having traveled most places in the US Canada and Mexico, fact i. if you come from a inviroment where most people are not happy, most likely that will influence you. The oppisit is also true! 2 The happyest people iv seen are people living in a great climate, like Hawaiee. the most unhappy people iv seen are people who hate there job, or where they are living.The Orentials have a saying,, Mother at home not happy, whole family not happy!! iv noticed there is such a thing as inherated personality trates! and i think the enviroment has a bearing on that. "think, Midnight Cowboy, the movie">

Hello, Dr Henry Cloud. I truly need your help. I'm still grieving since last year human and nonhuman losses. I am not angry but I feel like I can't move on. I'm a very emotional person. I don't have much support. I'm going through several different things at the same time. I want to live in an apartment but I feel guilty, (as a matter of fact just about for everything). I pray constantly letting my requests be known to God. But it seems like I'm not getting anywhere, so as a result I get confused. My therapist can't seem to help much either. I feel extremely sad and all alone. Can you please advise me of what I should do? Thank you.

What about Single people who get jealous from others who are married?
@gloriouslastinglips130
@gloriouslastinglips130 2 жыл бұрын
You have to take the thoughts captive. Recognize you are moving into envy and stop it. Tell yourself you are actively thinking evil when you get jealous. Set yourself up to do better. For instance. If you start thinking I’m feeling and thinking Jealous thoughts catch yourself and stop. Tell yourself that’s poison I am drinking and spit it out. The more jealous you are the less attractive you will be. Bitter people are not attractive. It reduces your opportunities to attract healthy happy people into your life.
