We're back in the world of your human body and your Cells at Work / Hataraku Saibou! I breakdown scenes from episode 10 from a real doctor's perspective. I'll be reacting to scenes and attempting to share a little bit more about the science behind the best science anime.
We learn a bit more about Staphylococcus Aureus, coagulase, phagocytosis, monocytes and macrophages!
This is more of a lighter episode, and recaps a lot of things we've already seen in the series.
This is part of a series reviewing Cells at Work, you can find the whole playlist here:

If you enjoyed this please check out my other reviews of Medical TV dramas; House MD, Scrubs, The Good Doctor, Grey’s Anatomy, The Resident and ER! And also I did a series on Marvel movies too, more on that soon.

Your explanation to how macrophages work to kill bacteria reminds me of a detail about the macrophages in Ep. 7 (cancer). There is a scene in which the macrophages are cooking something having an arm, this maybe represents that the macrophages are digesting a bacterium. And the arm looks like the arm of a Staphylococcus Aureus, so probably they have just finished a battle before that lol.

I kept waiting for the Killer T Cells and B cell to appear, but when the Macrophages talked about being fashionably late, I remembered that T cells don't appear to an immune response until after the macrophages do, and I was hoping Killer T would show up to realize the fight is already over.

Best way to start a Friday. Watching my favourite doctor react to the Cells at work's "How to play whack a mouse with style" episode. As always great reaction and explanation of episode and i like how you add in details such as the schematic of how the coagulation factors lead to the formation of fibrin.

Not sure if anyone else has commented on this but you can also see in the background in multiple episodes the macrophage is stirring pots with the limbs of the germs hanging out of it. I would think that it is a nod to them digesting it?

Guys with a suit is Monocyte (intravascular) and turns into Macrophage (extravascular). As for the corkscrew shaped bacterium, i'm guessing it is Treponema. Man, this body is a mess! ✌😅

Well, you're probably the first guy in the comments to have a guess at what the unknown bacterium might be. I have no clue if you're right or not (Though looking it up, it looks more like a spiral than a corkscrew), but good job with the effort!
@karloraras8631
@karloraras8631 5 жыл бұрын
@@maximumdon7637 well, it can't be Borrelia since most of the spp. are either anaerobic or aerotolerants. My other guess is Leptospira but then again, I might be wrong.
