When I first saw this ratchet I said, "that sure looks like a swench wrench". Salvage Workshop has a pair of them on his channel and they are the mother of all ratchets for torque and power. I may very well be wrong, but it definitely looks like one.

You know there is a handheld impact wrench that is actually a manual impact wrench, you just insert the bit you need and lock it and then put it in the screw head and then hit the back end with a hammer and it will jar the screw and possible loosen it.

I've always found , whenever something is so tight or in your case rusted solid , I try to tighten it with just enough pressure to break the seal from previously being tightened . This way with WD-40 it comes loose easier. But not always.

All right here we go 1) why does every restoration Channel feel that if they use a half a can of penetrating oil on a screw like it's going to work better it's not because 90% of its on the floor 2) the pointless sanding it just eats time up on the video it doesn't serve a purpose 3) if he would have just used an impact screwdriver he could have broken their screws loose but again more time wasting for the video 4) Goes through all the trouble to make new screws and retap the holes yet doesn't put a drop of oil or grease on them so you can hear them crunch all the way back in. But I will give him props for making his own screws that was impressive
@DrHutOfHandcraft3 күн бұрын
All right, here we go: 1) Don't really know how you got the idea that I used half a can of penetrating oil, but I didn't. Also penetrating oil usually is pretty handy and most of the time works very well, give it a try 2) The "pointless" sanding is for optical reasons because I personally like the look of it. So I guess it's not pointless if I enjoy it right? 3) "He" would have used an impact screwdriver, if "he" had one at that time. I am not going to go around buying tools if I can solve the problem with the options I have. Also: You may be very talented in whatever you do but it's not my first day on the job. I very much doubt that an impact screwdriver would've worked. Maybe an air driven impact driver would've worked, but I also didn't have one of those. Didn't so see how seized that thing was? Didn't the square piece of steel that it bent give you an idea of that? 4) All parts got oiled before reassembly. In future I will include that part, since you aren't the only one to mention that, so I'll give you a point here. 5) Thank you

I don’t always use a wire brush. Sandblasting is much easier and also more fun to do. Also in my opinion it makes a much nicer surface finish. But sure, buying a sandblasting setup is not necessary.

Good job! But it's better to wear proper gloves when working with brushes on the grinder. If they touch your fingers you will almost lose them.
@DrHutOfHandcraft17 күн бұрын
Thank you! I understand that, but you should never were gloves on turning tools especially not brushes. If you’re glove gets caught in the brush you will definitely have some huge problems
@Emry1116 күн бұрын
@@DrHutOfHandcraft I mentioned the word "proper" gloves not just any glove. When working with brushes at high speed leather gloves are suitable and will protect your hands. Canvas or plastic or cotton gloves are not suitable. Without a glove there is always a chance of injury even from the traveling parts in the air.
@DrHutOfHandcraft16 күн бұрын
@@Emry11 sure, some gloves are worse/better than others. But as far as I know it is common sense not to use gloves on turning tools. I had it happen to me that my hand hit the turning wire brush, is not very fun but also not that bad. But anyways, I guess everyone is responsible for their own safety.
