beautiful. I have bookmark mould. will artificial flowers work - small ones ? pls where is the link to dried pressed flower on aliexpress ?
@resinAce5 жыл бұрын
Hi, here is the Ali link www.aliexpress.com/item/33005262830.html if the artificial flowers are made from paper then they are difficult to use in resin. If you search out my butterfly cube video I used a paper daisy, which I painted in acrylic paint first as the paper petals otherwise turned clear in the resin. If the flowers are foam they can be used as long as you can hold them in place, as they will float. They can also release tiny bubbles.

I have a couple of questions. 1. When you say let the resin firm before making a dome...how long would that be roughly? 2. I always thought you put your items in upside down in the molds (like the coaster mold), but you do it the opposite. Is there really no need to do it backwards? Thanks. I love watching your channel
@resinAce4 жыл бұрын
Hi, it really depends on the resin, but with my art resin I don't have too wait too long - 10 minutes maybe. There is more than one way to achieve your end result. If you use the mold upside down you get a nice flat surface on the top but you still have to deal with that sharp raised edge that will then be on the bottom. I just find it easier to arrange the composition the right way up in the mold.

ResinAce I need your help. I bought a two-part sphere mold and tried to make something. The problem I had was trying to get the bubbles out of the top part of the mold. The lighter would only get the bubbles out of the small hole on top and when I demolded it there were bubbles in the top half of the sphere. How do you do it?
@resinAce5 жыл бұрын
I think the key there is to make sure your resin is as bubble-free as possible before you pour it into the mould. Another thing to try is to half fill the sphere, then put the end of the lighter over the hole and give it just one quick click. You don't need the flame to make contact with the resin, just burn up the oxygen inside the mould and that will break the surface tension of the resin and pop the bubbles. Then fill it a bit more and do it again, and so on. Don't let the bubbles defeat you! ♠

Hey Ace! Love your channel :) I have a question - is it possible to put flowers into resin if they have first been dried in silica gel? Will that still keep them looking fresh rather than dried and pressed? I'm guessing it's not a good idea to put fresh flowers in resin? Cheers!
@resinAce5 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you 😊 The main issue is to get rid of all the moisture in the flowers, so never use fresh flowers. Moisture will cause numerous problems: it can affect the cure of the resin, causing a white bloom on the surface. The moisture can vaporise as the resin heats up while it cures and cause it to crack. Fresh flowers can yellow pretty quickly in resin, and will eventually turn brown as they rot. It doesn't matter how you dry the flowers, just as long as you get that moisture out. ♠

Brilliant, thank you so much!
