Hi, In short you are saying to pursue developing a Personal Visibility Channel which One can control himself, (valuable advice) Can you also guide by doing this an upcoming artist is then no longer dictated or Influenced by any Art Gallery norms or intervention, so how a new Artist then set a price Tag for his creation, bcs No-one is curating his art except from himself...I am watching you from Pakistan ❤️

Great question. I have recorded some videos on building a channel as well as on pricing your art. They'll help you massively!

Do you sell your Art? I mean you are teaching people how they can sell their art successfully but are you applying these ideas too and are they working?

Do you really believe, in your heart, that the purpose of art is to make money? Or do you believe teaching artists to sell their art is a way for an artist to make money? I am seriously interested, having watched every one of your videos now.

I would like to respond to this .. but I'm sure Dries will too. When it comes to artists .. there are basically two kinds .. those who do art for fun .. and those who do art for an income. Let me explain it another way .. there are basically two kinds of doctors .. the ones who do it because they enjoy taking care of people .. and those who do it for an income. To be a natural artist .. or artist naturally .. it must come from your heart and soul as an expression of how you think .. how you are. There are people who are artists in the kitchen .. and people who are artists with their words .. and artists with landscaping .. or music .. but there are also people who only know how to "paint-by-number" .. or play a song by following the notes on a sheet of music. I tell people if they are artists .. they should put Artist after their name .. in the same way a Doctor puts MD or DDS after their name. If you are an Artist .. it will effect everything you do .. how you lay out a garden, how you develop friendships, carve wood, paint a canvas, chisel stone, or weld steel. Have fun creating your life!

Money isn't real. It's literally made up. A bunch of numbers on a screen. It's not the purpose of anything. BUT without money you can't chase your purpose.

I believe that every artist is driven to create art. Having money just enables us to create more art, with better materials, and to make it more widely available to those who will appreciate it. Maybe an artist also makes money with KZbin, or with a website (related or unrelated to art), with affiliate links, with a reliable investment strategy (that may be an oxymoron), by teaching art (online, in books, or in person), by putting on arts events, or something else. I believe that every artist must find their own path and maneuver it with as much integrity as possible. That path will be unique to them, and I'm not sure there is any "best" path to follow... as long as it makes it possible for you to create more art.

@@EibhlinArt .. I think you are right about that. I guess what I'm trying to explain is that if you are an artist with 60 years behind you .. and still only doing paint-by-number art .. you are only coloring inside the lines of someone else's original creation .. which maybe has it's place on some level .. but to me being an artist is a "License" to work outside the box. This is one of the reasons I like Dries Ketels channel. The piano player who is only following the notes on a sheet of music without any person flare or expression .. is not "creating". I have seen this in several people .. not that I'm putting them down or in any way discouraging them.

@@MerwinARTistThe sad truth is that artists cannot help themselves-it’s literally written into their DNA. Humanity, like many other tribal hive species such as bees or monkeys, has evolved with a division of roles. Around 18-20% of the population are born with creative instincts, while the remaining majority lean toward following the status quo, forming the foundation of stability in society and evolution. It’s much like a beehive. About 80% of bees diligently perform their tasks, guided by herd instincts to maintain the hive’s stability. But the remaining 20% are explorers. These bees venture out, searching for new sites, untapped fields of flowers, and sources of pollen. Without these adventurous scouts, the hive would stagnate and eventually die. Even among the explorers, there’s an exceptional subset-the 2% who are the mad heroes. Most of these pioneers fail. They get caught in webs, lose their way, or succumb to the unknown. But every so often, one of them discovers the motherlode: a vast field of flowers or the perfect location for a new hive. This 80/20 dynamic echoes throughout nature, and humanity is no exception. The creative 20% of the population are the bum wagglers of our species. Like the scout bees who return to the hive and perform their waggle dance to share the good news, these individuals bring fresh ideas, new perspectives, and transformative discoveries to the rest of society. The majority follow their lead, embracing the new opportunities they reveal. But not everyone heeds the waggle dance-not even all the explorers. Other bum wagglers, those rare kindred spirits, continue on their own paths, driven by the same restless urge to seek what lies beyond.

What if, as an artist, you first create your art for decades, and then turn the art world upside down with your entire work in one go? (assuming the work is really good)
