Dries, I love my artwork, it's hanging in my home, it has a strong message, sold few pieces to friends. I have a website & Instagram account but it doesn't go any further than that, no visitors and not many followers. That's why I'm listening to you, great advice, oh Merry X-mas... thxs for the gifts and now get the Hell out of here !

Thank you for your valuable info! I am doing my first juried art fair next weekend! I created a couple of pages for an email list for all attendees that are interested in my art. I created a new email dedicated for this. I'm putting together my own webste and I created a logo of my own and got new business cards. I love your insight in the art workd. I have many of my paintings on my wall. I did a show a few years ago, and a man came along and purchased 8 of my best pieces and told me that I was underpricing my art! I then knew my art is viable and desireable. So yes.. at this fair my prices will be according to what I value them at.

Why? because he fits that "crazy artist" stereotypical persona? That is ALL carefully arranged to fool the simple minded.

I also don't plan on taking too little for orders later. Because I read somewhere that if we take little, it destroys the prices for those who have to make a living from their artistic work. If many people do this, the customers are trained to think that these low prices are normal and the others are too expensive. This forces them to set dumping prices themselves in order to sell something at all, and many may even give up.

Once again another great video. The future is for those who are confident and have a personality. Another important thing they don't teach you at Art schools.

I always thought this. Charging more makes people feel like your work is better. You gotta kinda fake it. I'm gonna update my website and just start charging 1500€ per painting

@driesketels yeah you dont pop up on my feed regularly. I just moved and I guess they want to show me more do-it-yourself videos. My artroom isn't setup yet so I've decided to do some sketching till the art room is ready

The hair loves you back. P.S. I think I need to put a light on the hair because now it's too dark, people can't actually see the hair properly

Yup. Artists of all kinds undervalue themselves. And they can, because so many are undervaluing themselves. It's time to stop that nonsense.

What ever happened to doing a thing because you wanted to be the best at it? And you would not let anything leave your studio until you KNEW with YOUR HEART AND SOUL it was the best you could do..even after years of studying until you were sure you knew what and where the aesthetic milestones were?...oh, wait influencers...yeah...influencers.

I think we are on the verge of the very early days of the AI Age. Just like the Industrial Revolution destroyed the old rural way of life, the feudal system, AI is about to destroy the Industrial Age. Artists are in a great position because everyone else is still being taught in schools, colleges, and universities to prepare for an industrial-age job that is not going to be there anymore. There will not be any careers, no jobs. All there will be are people and their personal brands. I do not mean influencers; I mean the only people earning money in any field will be those who have a personal brand on social media. And artists, more than anyone else, are in the best position to succeed at this because that is how artists have been succeeding for decades.
