Honestly, if you're teaching your friend or SO or whatever how to drift, I don't think anyone else at the track is going to get upset. If anything they'll be supportive and want even more people to get in on the sport, because it's even more fun when there's more people who enjoy it. Maybe this doesn't hold true for tracks with a really expensive fee, but I doubt most people would be angry about it. I'm impressed with how well you're managing to chain drifts and flick the rear end around, but it definitely needs more power to keep the rear end from linking back up and regaining traction prematurely. The wider track width at the front also bothers me when compared to the pretty stock rear track, so maybe you can step off the rear tires more and just fully roll the fenders and panel bond on some flares or something to make it a bit more presentable. If you do in-house wraps, maybe just orbital sand off the perished clear and wrap the thing to keep it from rusting. If you really want to get stupid and keep vibing with the NA config, you can always try to source a salvaged 1UZ-FE engine from the SC400 and swap that in. I think the transmission adapter might still work on it, but the later VVTi variant of that motor puts out 290HP and the weight is almost the same as the 2JZ-SE thanks to it using an aluminum block. Not sure how well it accepts boost for future upgradability, but if you still want a relatively low power build with just that little bit more oomph to keep the tires broken loose, that might do it for you.

Great video man. Don't try to push too much boost on that vvti if you do turbo it. I'm sure you're aware but they let go around 400-450hp. Have you thought about throwing in an auto TT supra diff? If I remember correctly the ratio is 3.26. I might be wrong.
@FrameBanginKyle3 жыл бұрын
His car is having problems staying sideways with a 4.27 ratio, if he puts the auto TT diff in (3.76) it would only make it worse. His cars got something wrong with it, my SC300 non-vvti with the same mods, as his, does 3rd gear all day. Could honestly be transmission gearing. My w58 seems geared way differently.

If it’s a purpose built drift car, what’s the thought process behind keeping the rest of the interior? It’s not a lot of weight savings but with low horsepower it might make a slight difference🤷♀️.
@RADIndustries4 жыл бұрын
I might go that route or a tiny Turbo to bring the HP up
@dylanjordan314 жыл бұрын
@@RADIndustries I’m loving these SC300 videos though. My cousin had an SC400 that we used to drift. Brings back good memories. Glad I found your videos. How much HP would a small turbo give you on this particular 2J?

@Vert3444 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't really gut it~ But def needs a small precision turbo. Oooor maybe a supercharger. lol Since it is for fun and a practice car.
@billibadass84464 жыл бұрын
Vert344 I would gut it to the point where it’s still street able so I would leave the door cards and speakers
@Vert3444 жыл бұрын
@@billibadass8446 I mean I think keeping it full interior is the charm. Besides having AC, Heat and that stuff is great for a night like that. Besides it the Japanese guys/girls can make things things dance with stance, tricked out interiors and all that jazz I'm sure dan can find away without gutting it. But yeah it definitely needs either baby turbo or a procharger or something just to give it that extra kick to keep the wheels spinning. Its a heavy car but from what I've seen when they make like 350 to 400hp they shred. I've been looking at getting one myself... either a SC300 or a GS300. My current car could but.... well its complicated.
@billibadass84464 жыл бұрын
It’s nice to have a car you could definitely daily and still get down at the track I personally have a 03 infinity g35 sedan i snapped a rod so as of now it’s my project my goal is 450 safe with boost from the current motor after the rebuild
@FaworDrifts4 жыл бұрын
You can not just switch the diff for something like 3,6? We are drifting in Europe in such 240hp missle cars for years and it works without turbos. On my channel is even 100hp E36 compact :D I know, that they are a lot lighter and I'm driving on 185's :) but do not overbuild this setup, Dan. You sad that it will be a simple low power drift car. Drifting with 400+ is too easy, you already have baby blue. Try harder ;)
