Capt Muniz can u help me understand drifting for muttons and grouper? I hear guys say their weight is on the bottom but they leave the reel and free spool and drift but I thought you were supposed to have the weight up off the bottom and everything drifts? I'm interested in targeting reefs off South Beach in my kayak. We will be out there fishing the cut tomorrow morning, maybe I will see you.

Hello. I’ve seen it done various ways. Some guys do like to leave it in free spool while others drift it just off the bottom. A lot depends on the type of bottom you are drifting over. A lot of variables but if you’re near the bottom, it’s usually effective. Good luck tomorrow! 🤞
