On average, how many years will the tank last before it needs to be replaced? Looking at a 2005 center console. Thanks again.

diceman220 well, more and more gas tanks are plastic in later craft. Which is more resilient to oxidation etc. if there’s a reason to change it in a boat that year it may be bad fuel ,debri.. that kind of thing. Otherwise the tank should be good if it’s plastic. If it’s aluminum etc maybe 10-15 years where you may see a leak etc from oxidation.

Not a easy job. I replaced a 50 gallon tank in my sea craft cc. Was it the tank or hoses? I'm looking at steigercraft . Thanks

Just wondering what year is this Steigercraft? You mentioned that there was a previous repair and there was wood in the boat. Newer Steigercraft boats are not supposed to contain any wood? Thanks.

D Smith hi,I believe it's an 87. I could be wrong though. I've replaced one other deck in the same craft.wood as well. I believe that was 92.

Thanks for the reply. As indicated, the newer Steigercraft are advertised as totally wood free, including the transom. Not that I am afraid of wood, as long as it is encapsulated correctly, it will last a long time. In my case, as I have my boat out of the water a good 5 months of the year and stored in a garage when not in use, wood is not a big issue. I currently have a 2008 Trophy 1802 WA that I bought new and has served me well and is still in fantastic shape, even though I use it for scuba Diving, recreational fishing, and pleasure cruising. Yes, some people don't have a great opinion of the Trophy line. However, for what I got for the price I paid it could not be beat. I would not have gotten any more use out if it if I paid at least an addition 10K+ for a Proline, Grady White, or even a Seaswirl Striper (and from what I have seen there are still issues with these boats anyway). Plus, the 1802 is an easy boat to trailer and has been able to handle some harsh North Atlantic weather we face her in on the east coat of Newfoundland. Been considering the Steigercraft for my next boat purchase in a couple years time. They seem like pretty reputable boats and I like the design and features of their pilot house version. How do you feel about the current line of the Steigercraft boats?

Did steigercraft provide you with a gas tank cut out template or did you figure out that deck cut out drawing yourself?
@christopherdougherty23126 жыл бұрын
Hi ray,I measured through the access ports, marked it out w a sharpie on the deck and cut through.

I've never actually used a template to cut through a deck.
