The VKS is not a popular sniper rifle because it does not get one shot kills to the legs or arms.

Whats wrong with Hardscoping? I mean I don't like campers too, but if you just run your routine, stay at the back of the map, defend and try to take out enemys in the distance, what's the problem? That's what Snipers where made for. :D

In my opinion, quickscoping is not really sniping. But if youre stressed and someone is close to you, quickscoping may help :). This is allowed to do but its not necessary for sniping. And Hardscoping is not always camping.. but camping and hardscoping makes me angry :/.

IbsT, camping and hardscoping is literally what real snipers do. If you're not doing that, you're "CoD Sniping" and not actually sniping.

Reon Thornton yes, in Reallife you have to camp for real sniping. But that doesn't matter in Cod at all, because the whole game is NOT realistic. The engine comes from quake and that explains a lot and explains, why quickscoping is possible and so easy. It is simply said a glitch and there is no reason why it shouldn't be used. But i do often "real sniping" or what you would call it. In real life quickscoping can work to, but it would be much much harder than in Cod ;).

In real life noscoping would work better too, but it does matter in CoD because CoD players call "real snipers" noobs, when they are the ones using their weapon properly. Call of Duty is ridiculed as a franchise for "Snipers running around and guys with Assault Rifles hiding in corners".

Why does everyone use the term "hardscoping"? Its proper sniping, and is not a variation of quickscoping, its the other way round. I couldnt care less if you quickscope or snipe proper, but when it is referred to as "dinosaur sniping" it really annoys me; repect the way the weapons are meant to be used.

Quickscoping may not be the real way of sniping, but neither call of duty is a game that is realistic in one sense, but not in many others. Like bullet damage for example. In real life you would not be sent into a war zone without any real tactics and ulimited lives. This is done so that the game is fun, and I do not see how sitting and aiming from a camping spot can be fun. I think it is too slow paced.

I always thought this gun would suck after trying out silencers on sniper rifles over many years of CoDs. But, after using it for awhile this gun is fantastic and quickly becoming my favorite sniper rifle. Thank you Driftor!

I love the VKS also. But as Drift0r put it I am a grandpa sniper. I am very immobile and hardscope all the time. My main problem with sniping is I get tunnel vision and sort of stand still a lot ..which gets me killed...when I am using an smg or AR I don't do it....I guess my brain isn't programmed to deal with the sniper scope. I will try this class tonight...great work again Drift0r!

the way this gun seems to act reminds me a lot of the wa2000 in mw2, especially since the wa2000 could run a silencer with stopping power and have no damage penalties

Personally, my thoughts on sniping is that quickscoping is fun and fine to do on occasion. But it's meant to go in a spot and use a sniper for mid to long range kills for strategic placements, with an occasional quickscope if people sneak up on you.

VKS is my favorite though less used Sniper Rifle. I managed to get a 3m Kem with it first time I slapped specialist on it. I played on Octane and was quickscoping and hardscoping. Worked out pretty well for me

This game has totally fucked up with the VKS... the VKS is not a semi auto sniper it's a bolt action rifle..... Also it shoots a fucking 12mm round. it should instakill on impact to any part of the body.

I dont know man, it really isnt in use today either, so if it ever became a popular firearm it would probably be a russian counter part for the 50 cal barret. So, also a 12.7mm and thus damage output should be real high. On the semi-auto part it may have been modified to fit that description. But they could have made it realistic and balanced by having it be a 12.7mm bolt action with high damage output instead of a unrealistic semi auto sniper rifle with low damage.

john basedow the rcp90 in Goldeneye is OP okay all the OP whining in cod has always been so weak and bitch. If a gun is slightly in the smallest way better then other guns everyone bitches about it and screams OP. In MLG on black ops 1 if one good player used the aug instead of the famas he would do just fine and would not be at any huge dis advantage. I think most of the OP bitching is mostly a plecebo affect. Players are convinced they cant be their best unless they use a certain gun so they arent. However the snipers in black ops 2 are totally and completely over powered, those things are just ridiculous I really dont know what treyarch was thinking when they put those guns in the game the way they are. A good quick scoper is almost on god mode in that game

Technically, snipers were meant to be long range weapons and not close quarter weapons, so I hate it whenever I get called "noob" or "hacker" when I hardscope. I just reply "Well, I took out your whole team, so yeah..."

some important points about this rifle, first it's straight pull bolt action not semi-auto, also there are three barrel lengths available so a longer version could replace the chrome barrel for range. also a select fire rifle version exists called the ash 12.7 supposedly entered service with omon (russian swat) in 2011.

love the VKS in game, it is so underrated and so overpowered. it kills in one shot usually around 85% of the time which is not bad for being silenced. favorite sniper in ghosts and highly recommend trying it

i love the VKS! sure it is kinda weak but the fact that the suppressor is integrated, its an excellent sniper rifle for stealth kills. In fact, you dont even need like primary gunfighter for it. :D

***** Grandpa sniping is my favorite part of CoD! It gets 'mlg' gamers mad at you because they can't counter it, it's realistic, and makes you feel like a God. I like using Thermal and AP (extended mags isn't necessary), with ingoc, off the grid, focus, and 1 or two other things but those are the important ones. I roll with a P226 silenced, and put on a ghillie suit for realism. I play on Stonehaven, great gun for camping. I prefer it over trying to focus on 1hit kills.

i really like the vks for quick scoping its pritymuch like a assault rifle with the single shot attatchment.If you are acurate it can really reward you in close quarters.

To say that the VKS is user friendly is an understatement. That thing is a beast at sniping. I use it for my sniper class. It is as follows: primary: VKS with variable zoom lense and extended mags. Secondary: PDW with either extended mags or a silencer. Lethal gear is IEDs. Tactical is concussion grenade. Perks are off the grid, extra lethal, and extra tactical. Assault kill streak is guard dog, trinity rocket, and sentry drone.

+Faze Fan well, scavenger has its place. I like to use it for a point man class. Primary is a k7. Attachments red dot sight, extended mags and foregrip. Secondary is pdw with extended mags and silencer. Lethal is Semtex. Tac is 9 banger. Perks are scavenger, extra attachment, extra tactical and fully loaded.

I think hard scoping actually helps the team. It clears off objectives so it supports your team while hurting the enemy. Plus not all hardscopers are campers. I hardscope but after 2-3 kills I move so no one can find me because cod players never watch the kill cam. I think not enough people use the kill cam to their advantage.

For once I actually completely disagree with you driftor. The vks has a great ads animation for quick scoping and it feels faster than the other snipers with QuickDraw. I can clean up people quickscoping with this gun while staying silent.

I love this as a secondary for my search class. It already has a silencer, then just put a thermal on it then you can play well at long or short range.

I think the thermal scope should get blinded or show more accurately the effects of grenades/stuns/flash bangs. Those radiate tons of heat, sometimes more so than body heat. That would be much more realistic, granted this is an arcade shooter, but still.

I use everything you said to use on my VKS minus the stun grenades, I use Extra Lethal and IED. As a camper sniper I like to put down IEDs at the 2 places where I think someone will try and come and get me after I've taken them out. Also when it goes off, even if it doesnt kill them, it lets me know someone is nearby and I need to get the pistol out to defend myself.

I use this gun when a lot of people are sniping in the other team, I use it with over kill I use a Vector and the vks as the second weapon I use it with Thermal scope its a really good sniper rifle it keeps you of the radar, give it a try run it with over kill and only use it when you need to that's how I use it and its amazing

I was unaware they buffed it. When I first saw it I immediately thought "finally, a silenced sniper rifle that will actually get 1 shot kills." To this day my hit marker to 1 shot ratio With the VKS rounds to 3:1. And I have a 1.5 k/d with the USR. I personally find a suppressed L115 to be far superior to the hit marker machine called VKS.

So I've played cod for 6 years and battlefield for 2 and I've always preferred cod to battlefield but now I'm swaying to battlefield 4 instead of ghosts. I've watched your video on why you don't do battlefield videos but I would really like it if you did. It doesn't widen the blast radius when you use this perk. It simply buffs up the damage. If you want a larger blast radius with Danger close, then use that perk with Thermobaric tactical, because it creates a huge blast radius by itself, but less damage. With the perk, you'll do more damage. Or just simply use the Frag Grenade

The only thing, besides pulling out a riot shield with the helmet to go with it, that I do in ghosts is stealth snipe. Not just because it has raised my k/d to my surprise, but I figured since I have the season pass skull mask, and it is cod GHOSTS, I'd be just that- a ghost (Ghost sniper).

i actually got a couple of decent quickscope feeds with the VKS, if people can quickscope on Black Ops 1 then you can quickscope with the VKS ;) My class setup is: FMJ and Thermal secondary: P226 with Muzzle, i use I.E.D and Stun with the Perks Incog, Quickdraw and Sleight of hand and my killstreaks are: Battle Hind, Helo Pilot, Loki or when i go for Kem Strikes: Ammo Crate, Ballistic Vests and Oracle. this is also imo the best sniper ever for getting Kem Strikes/Moabs. before i played ghosts i only ever got a Moab with the Barret 50 Cal. and it was so Lucky! on Ghosts i have 4 Kems so far with the VKS all while playing TDM 2x Stonehaven 1x Whiteout 1x Prison Break.

vidiot I love the WA-2000 in BO1. Perfect balance between accuracy, damage and recoil. Even if you didn't 1HK with it, the recenter was just enough that you could quickly put a 2nd round in to finish the job.

I'm not a sniper at all but I picked up the VKC from a dead enemy in one TD match and I got a 10 killstreak with it. I think is a pretty good sniper for my style of play.

Love this sniper because of the whole covert ops, scout sniper feel to it. My only problem with it is that it has really bad hit detection with the thermal scope, so I end up spraying sometimes.

Takedown can still be useful, but if you wanta stay off the map to everyone else, use Incognito and Off-the-Grid. They both cost 3, but if you wanta stay hidden, that's the best chance

Remember, Takedown is to prevent the other enemies from knowing a nearby enemy died. Whether you're sniping long distance or getting in their face, enemies still tend to travel in groups, so Takedown technically doesn't have a bad situation unless the map is so large it's not needed (probably Stonehaven) or the map is so small Takedown does nothing (does not exist in Ghosts).

Love the 226. I use it on my LMG classes for when I need to move to a new area and save a perk point by not having to use agility. Oh and thermal....YES. Prison Break if you are using just about any weapon that can take a thermal and aren't using it you are putting yourself at a disadvantage. That thing lets you see camping assholes behind foliage so easily and blast them. Great camper breaker attachment on that map.

It's strong as hell but I feel like I'm dragging a thousand pound weight behind me when I use that gun. I don't like feeling like I'm immobile with a gun. I'll sacrifice power for speed all day. That's just my preference though.

I run a class which I use almost exclusively on stonehaven, which is the VKS with 15 rounds and Variable Lens, using Incog (wasnt it originally called Incognito?) and Quickdraw and hardscoping (or SNIPING if you want) all day long! :D

Acog L115 is MUCH better than the other scopes, and the Acog USR is even better for aggressive or defensive sniping. Acog USR is actually easy to go positive with as it outperforms most guns at medium range while still being able to kill at close and long range. If you know where to aim there is nothing people can do about it, they have no time to respond.

I like the VKS, but I guess due to my connection, I can shoot people within it's range and not get a hitmarker; like the bullet just disintegrates into dust by the time it reaches who I shoot.
