I hired a moving truck that had a sheet that came with it explaining how to purge the particulate filter. Up until then I'd never heard of such a thing. You had to pull over some where flat, without grass or vegetation preferably, when the warning light came on and push the button and the vehicle would some how heat up the filter to temps so high it burnt off the built up matter in the filter so you could carry on without destroying the engine.
