I think your way more comfortable in the vette for sure. You can carry much more angle in it at speed. I would definitely say that the Corvette has way more potential. The amount of angle you are carrying, the speed of that thing in drift and transitioning, and that engine in the corvette is still relatively mild. I would also like to suggest header wrap. I had to do it on my LS. The headers will make everything in the engine bay hot instantly its insane how much heat they put off because the tubing walls are so thin lol.

When you spent that much money on a car you have to make the most out of it, get loads of seat-time in the c6, dial it in, feel comfortable in it. You will win events eventually.
@alesepracing1403 жыл бұрын
Awesome! I don't know if this will help you but I'll put it here just in case you Dave want to try new things: 1- Driving-wise, you are slowing down/stopping the transition momentum using the handbrake before/during the transition making it feel unstable. You should try to handbrake or slow down after the transition is done, you will be a lot more fluent like that. 2- Setup-Wise (I'm not sure about that specific platform): A little bit of toe out in the front will make the car a lot less snappy, also lower Rebound/Compression values in the front suspension will make it feel a little bit more settled on the ground.
@driftgames_life3 жыл бұрын
Great advice man! We are trying to make those changes for the next test session
@alesepracing1403 жыл бұрын
@@driftgames_life Can't wait for the next episode! I forgot to add a few things that may help dialing in your setup: Once you have your base Rebound/Bump values set to suit the car, you can play with each of them independently to fine tune the behavior of the car. -Adding Bump damper in the front: Car tends to understeer. -Adding Rebound damper in the front: Car tends to oversteer. -Adding Rebound in the rear: Will help you to find a lot more grip on throttle. Rebound damper "stops" the forces that push the wheel from the bottom through the wheel arch or looking it in another way, it helps to push the wheel to the ground generating a lot more grip. You only will lose grip by adding rebound (too much) in the rear when you go past through your tires limits or make the car feel a little bit difficult to drive due to the suspensions not taking the imperfections on the road as they should be. -Adding Bump in the rear: Can help to make all the grip you found driveable but if the value exceed the weight the chassis is putting in to the wheels you'll start to lose some grip because the rear suspensions are dampening the forces that the tires should receive to be pushed to the ground. Finally, if you want the steering wheel to be more predictable while drifting, try to reduce how the front suspension is affected by the pitch (shift in your vehicle's weight forwards or backwards) you get when it change from braking/Accel or from On/Off throttle.

The seat in the Corvette seems alot more stable than the mustang
@Vert3443 жыл бұрын
*Long explanation* Hmmm~ Honestly looking at both. I'd argue the Mustang is the better "Overall" of the two cars. Both cars seem to have their own individual issues. Mustang seems HEAPS better than before. But it still has some weight to it... which I'm sure can shave a bit more off in some places by doing some things. Or going full modern FD mustang and chopping a bit more off the front and rear could take some weight off as well. Dunno if that would be possible. The Vette on the other hand... lighter in weight and snappy. But the Vette honestly seems like it needs more power for what it is and is more of a handful. It has the grip... but it def needs a bit more. Not saying it needs crazy numbers but... Maybe even some nitrous to get the torque up some more to keep it from bogging so hard in lower RPM's. Since it seems like it really wants to grip up and drive down in a lot of places. Even during the competition it almost seemed like it was running out of juice at times as it is. Definitely needs some good Vented hoods and some heat shielding and something to cover up that trans tunnel. Overall though I know your still growing as a driver but the biggest thing I think is holding you back is just some commitment. Just watching the in car footage I can tell your really still coming to grips because you hover the hand brake a lot. Like... reliant so in a way. Which is kinda a bad habit in the long term. Obviously I'm just a guy on the internet who's never "Drifted" a real car a day in his life. So I can't speak from experience sadly. :( But from what I can see in some places your basically dragging the hand brake to help rotate the car. Instead of rotating the car first then using the hand brake to slow and set the car down. 6:25 going into the hairpin for example. And again especially at 19:53 even in the Corvette. Normally most would transition first then tap the hand brake (And foot brake together sometimes.) to settle the car. Usually blipping the throttle while on the hand brake to keep the revs up. Then kicking the clutch the light the rear up and then control the rest of the drift with the throttle from there. It'd rotate the car faster and it'd keep more speed up as well as keeping the RPM's up so the car doesn't bog down and lets you flow better through the course. Again I know, Easier said than done... as its a big commitment factor. But I feel thats the biggest step to really getting a handle on these cars... Though I feel there miiight be a bit of Bias to the Corvette as you did say it was your dream car to build. And of course we all enjoy driving the things we desire most. Not that the mustang is bad... but... hey... If I have two equal cars... and I like one more than the other. I would drive the one I slightly like more. xD So overall... Mustang I feel could be the better car in terms of being "Easier" to drive. But as I say with all things... go with what ya love more. Because you'll adapt faster in something you enjoy driving more. And you'll have more fun doing it.. The most successful drivers have a formula and stick to it. Dean, Piotr, Mad Mike, Andy Gray, Gaz Whiter, Forsberg.... they all have a "Car" or a "Type" of chassis, engine and drivetrain they like. And they stick with it so not much changes and they can be consistent. So whatever you choose... I say pick one car.. and then just stick with it for a year or two no matter what unless something forces you out of it. The more time you have in it, the more you work on it. The more you'll understand it and the easier it'll be to drive. Don't break the formula once you got it unless there's no choice. If you can get someone who's competed or driven high level cars like this more to ride along in either car and give you tips... do it~ Any and all help going forward is going to be massive for your growth. Loving the content as always and sorry for rambling. Its 6:33 A.M and its hard to explain what I mean through typing. lol Good luck on whatever you choose but personally I say... stay in touch with Vaughn or JTP and build the Mustang up more and drive it hard, fast and like your trying to murder it. Its a mustang it can take a beating or some hits....... just don't hit the crowds. xD Though if you pick the Vette.... Nitrous, Vented hood, covers for the trans tunnel and channeling your inner Dirk Stratton or Matt Field. lol I.E Give no fk's, huck it and abuse it.

It’s not a power thing, it’s a wheel speed thing. The ratio is a 3.6 in a 5 speed box so third gear is very long. That's a misconception, you need higher treadwear tires in the front, small width than the rear and grippier in the rear than the front. Also, running 0 ackerman sucks on the Vette, that makes it only good for max angle WOT drifts running slow line of the track, needs more positive ackerman to drift like a S chassis can He's understeery because he's going to slow and not throwing the weight around and relying on too much ebrake to initiate drifts and slowing down too much

I guarantee you that it has enough power to smoke 3rd at that track even with the 3.6 final drive, but the wheel speed will be ridiculous for such a slow track. Plus, because of the powerband it probably requires a lot of clutch work to break traction but not have excessive wheel speed. At that point, it’s better to just run 2nd gear and use steady throttle.
