When i got my ae92 GTS, i also had low comp. It would be dependant on 1 cyl for starting, run on 2 cyl intially, when finally warmed.up, all 4 would be running smooth lol

Fixing that 4AG will be little money, new valves and rings. Only problem is to set the valve lash that could end up being expensive. We need more restored 4AGEs :(

Go grab a 7A bloqué from el jonké 😆! I did ITBs on my 16v, and I don't have enough bottom end torque, I feel like. Key items to grab if you go... - block and crank (rods too if you'd like it more budget friendly or just the 2 with thrust washers) - 7a oil pan or buy MRP adapter for 4ag for better clearance 7ag i think is the better move. Cant wait to see how your build goes! 😁

Before the mr2's 4age, It Needs to Disassemble and Restored the Entire Engine to Clean The Parts, If There's Rust or Gunk Inside As Well, That's The Most Hardest Point. But The BEAM Engine Will Be OK With That.

Thank for not just skipping 5 steps per this and going “ok put on your starter”, “starters on”, “next test compression with your battery…” “now that these are on, let’s get to work” I want all the juicy little morsels and you give em in spades.

I really like the A-family engines from Toyota but only the 1/3/5/6 engines. I really despise the 2/4/7/8, because of one thing: they're not square. The 2A, 4A and 8A are power-oriented whereas the 7A is torque-oriented. And considering that if you really want either (1) a daily engine to last forever or (2) a daily engine that can be turned into a firebreathing monster, squares are the best. The ignition pattern is equally controlled in ignition cycle, therefore making the running smooth while keeping reliability. You notice this thing when you find any engine closer to or perfectly square measure. You can accelerate them forever. Because the length of stroke equals the bore, the burning of fuel remains the same all the time. Whereas torque is only felt at low-mid rpms and power only at mid-high rpms, there will be problems between torque/power and this creates a dilemma on performance. Ferraris can never be good drag racing cars, Dodges could never be good at grand touring or top speed events. Perhaps, the ultimate beast on the A-family is the 6A-FC: 1.4 litre, 76 mm bore x 77 mm stroke, iron block, aluminium heads, DOHC 4 valves per cyl, 80 hp, 12 kgf torque. The 6AFC is found on AE90 Corollas and the badge engineered Holden Nova. Yes, I like obscure and excellent engines.

@kelvinarreola what about a 7age frankenstein build? if its only the bottom end that's the issue with the 4ag, I'd say it'd be a good option, and kinda unique as you don't really hear about 7age builds minus keiichis 86 lol
