Designed my entire turbo setup myself and am going to be running a Frankenstein of parts, cst4 for a mazdaspeed3, water air intercooling, meth kit, auxiliary oil system, built trans, big tires, the whole works. Would love to see more of this project I love ITBs! I installed some AE101 silvertop ITBs on my miata recently. Opted not to tune on TPS alone like many others do for the lack of versatility and instead decided to figured out how to run on speed density (MAP). I configure my own vacuum system that behaved similar to stock and the car runs like a dream and I was able to actually use my previous stock tune with simple tweaks to fuel load. It runs very smooth and feels surprisingly "factory". Only really mentioned all that in the off chance someone who is in the middle of or wants to install some ITBs reads this and knows it's possible and was actually a pretty simple setup. A vacuum block a couple check valves and some hose and done. Just gotta configure it right.

James Could have also mentioned that the Black top 4AGE also came side mounted on the AW11 MR2 so it was basically a front wheel engine but on the back. The engine being available as is on the MR2 made the chances of getting a transverse version a lot more likely as it's also popular for MR2 owners to swap away from their 4AGE into a Beams 3S-GTE or a Kswap

This is great, would like to see an unedited version of the engine installment, to get the real feel of the pain and aches of swapping an engine.

Wait a min, is someone gonna tell James that it's still a 1.6 liter engine?

Yeah, that's the first thing I thought.

I think he's confusing the 4A-GE blacktop with the 3S-GE blacktop.

Think he mixed 20v with 2.0L. I was googling trying to find a 2L 4age and nothing came up

Yo' James it's a little 1.6 that had a dream 😅 Not a 2.0

I've dreamt of building one of these for over a decade. I'm super jelly! I had an 85 celica (they look kinda similar to the corolla) and it was so much fun to drive!Looking forward to watching the next video.

You should try doing an episode on engine bay shaving. That way you could have another chance to paint the engine bay :))

you could make this 10 minutes longer and I wouldn't really mind. More detail with good hosts doesn't hurt

The only engine swap I've done was on a '69 Chevelle when I was like 22 or 23 in the year 2000. Also of note is I did the whole thing by myself with nothing but a Chilton book for help. It came with a 307 with a 2 bbl carburetor. I put in a 350 with a 4bbl carb and aluminum intake. It was pretty fast but I couldn't afford to really keep up with it and I didn't know a lot of things I needed to to tune it properly. Also it got about 12-14 mpg.
