Perfect timing on this vid! I'm finally going to try a speed run. Not looking for anything crazy hoping for low 80s when I'm done. Don't want to break the bank since I'm only going to do it every once in a while. Not enough straight aways where I live.

As an owner of 7 cars, an XO-1, infraction, typhon 6s, erevo 2.0, erevo 1/16, Rustler vlx, and my sons latraxx pre-runner, SHOULD have watched this earlier, but you're spot on man! I've fortunately found an empty warehouse parking lot nearby with approximately 100+ feet side to side to avoid any impact. Really love this video, because I've got a need for speed. Much love, sir!

Thanks for the tips sir. I also think it is important to use the correct battery/ESC connectors. You would not want to use a deans connector with a 6 or 8s speed run vehicle. One should always figure out how many amps the system will draw and use the correct connectors. Example XT90, XtT150, EC5 etc. for high current set ups.

Great info, thanks so much for sharing this info! 👍👍 I'm new to the speed run game. It is indeed a lot harder than it looks I must admit lol. I have already busted a couple pieces on my Traxxas Rustler 2WD car, the front caster block & the rear hub carrier. And that was only at 40mph when I was still running the brushed titan t12 lol. Now I'm running brushless, Hobbywing 120A ESC with a Surpass Hobby Rocket V3 Pro Spec 540 10.5T 3800kv motor. And just got a castle creations 1410 motor, 3800kv. Now I realize how hard it is to keep control of the car lol, the gyro sensor has definitely helped a lot. But I'm trying to figure out the braking. There's a "Brake Force" setting & a "Drag Brake Force" setting on the programming card. Not only sure how the 'Drag Brake Force' affects the car & differs from the 'Brake Force' setting. Thanks again for the great info, thumbs up for sure! 👍👍
@N1NJAKIDD5 жыл бұрын
If I remember rightly, drag brake force is brake effect when you lift off the accelerator. So think of engine braking in a car or motorbike.
@rcbustanut20575 жыл бұрын
@@N1NJAKIDD Thanks, yeah, I think from what I read & a recent video I watched it's the brakes applied in the neutral position. Which I guess for speed runs, I may want that at 0 maybe. And the brake force ~50-75%.
@smiley37greg4 жыл бұрын
@@rcbustanut2057 test around with braking settings. I've ruined a new set of pro line Trencher tires (flat spots ) by locking them up expensive lesson. Controlled braking is achieved if the tires aren't sliding. Some esc have an adjustable coast setting. This helps the car settle off power prior to drag braking. Good luck cheers
@rcbustanut20574 жыл бұрын
@@smiley37greg Thanks, yeah, definitely don't want to lock the tires lol. I have since then upgraded to a hobbywing max8 combo system, 2200kv motor. Now I need a tarmac to stop 🛑 😄. But i have been playing with the brake settings & have gotten better at stopping. Drag brakes definitely helps a lot by helping slow down the car in the neutral position before starting to use the brakes. You can swing by my channel & check out the car, thing is a beast & I have more upgrades coming lol.

go for tires made by GRP I've the S3 ones on my typhon and they barely balloon at all on speed runs and get sticky when warm. JJ customs sells a wide range of the GRP tires

My friend that is very very good idea. I see people running a lot faster than me not even looking behind them. If it goes wrong a 15lb rc car hitting anyone or anything that’s a life changing lawsuit! I could run much faster but we only do so when it’s safe to do so

It's Driftomaniac right? So where are the drift rc cars?
@DriftomaniacsRC5 жыл бұрын
Drift mainly at speed on loose dirt! I started out with drift cars in NJ but weather was vary variable and there weren't the drift tracks around 5 years ago that they are now. Used to have 2speed nitro car set up for drifting, 60mph sideways is a lot of fun. Got into the faster trucks and buggies, best love of the moment is my losi super rock rey which on loose dirt on 8S is way more fun to drift!
