Wow! This really hit home, almost literally. I’m American, but my father lived in the lock house at Shannon Harbor as a boy, and worked the Grand Canal as youngster. My father lived in Banagher as a boy, before moving to the states in 1954. Just as a goof I searched “Banagher, Ireland” in the KZbin search bar and this video came up. Somewhere, I’ve got some pictures of a trip I took with grandpa, grandma, and my da in about 1990 or so, including a picture of me sitting on that bridge with my legs dangling off. 🇮🇪 ❤️ 🇺🇸 Thanks for this video

I must visit Ireland, and especially your Shannon. Will do that as soon as this world gets some sort of sanity back into life. The history you depart to us in your videos is very much appreciated. Keep safe and keep sailing.

Very interesting, as always! Are the locks at Shannon Harbour staffed with a lock keeper, or do you need a lock key? I took a RIB up the Brosna earlier this summer, and there's some good bank mooring spots for the more adventurous!
@DriftwoodBoatBlog3 жыл бұрын
Hi Doug, ye there's a lock keeper there, he was busy looking after another boat so we just let ourselves through. I don't know about heading up the Brosna, hmmm, who knows? 😜

Good afternoon from Finland. We have flight to Dublin 29th sep 2021 if everything is ok. ** Have you GSM antenna onboard, I noticed ! I have same kind with me and good Huawei Router ! DOES IT GIVE BETTER SIGNAL ??

Hi Kalevi, ye the antenna makes a big difference, the higher you can get it the better the signal 👌Have a great holiday 👍
