Really beautiful guitar and sounds great. The inlays and the stories behind them are incredible. It must feel extremely satisfying to play an instrument like that after building it with your own two hands.

I absolutely love the use of the reclaimed cedar and the fret board inlay. masters job brother. and just to reiterate, the matte finish is much smoother of a finish for the back of the neck. bonus plus 10!!

The sound resonates within me to a coffee house circuit act from the mid 70's when I was in college, California English. Two guys both named Steve who both played the Epiphones with the "plastic body from the 70's. It has a rich full bodied sound that is lush and full. Good job!

All the Driftwood guitars I've seen are beautiful, but this one I especially like. I've always preferred a blond spruce top and dark rosewood sides and back for a traditional look rather than more exotic wood choices, and aesthetically prefer a solid head, so this one ticks all my boxes. Beautiful.

The Steve Earle (via Guy Clark) capo placement. Not covering the low E allows one to play in A but still get the bass note for the one and five chords. This allows a really cool emphasis of bass notes. See Copperhead Road and Billy Austin (and many other Earle songs).

Love the balanced sound. Love the arm rest and the rear chest rest very cool. Tail inlay wrapping around onto the rear of the guitar is sweet and the inlay as always. Only bits I’m not keen on is the way the strings from the tunes are so tight together and even seem to hit the 1st and 6th string tuners? Also not mad about the extra free space at the top of the head above the tuners, aesthetically to my eye it just seems wrong. Astounding guitar though as always.

This guitar sounds great! I would love to hear it in about a year from now, and compare the sound with now! I'm a fingerstyle player, nylon strings mostly. I can't play with a pick, I have picks attached to my fingers, 5 of 'em... they're called nails! 😁 Almost no squeeks with 'Blackbird', nice.... keep practicing young lad! 😉 But, jokes aside... Well balanced sound indeed, I'm loving it ! You're an inspiration to me to build guitars again.

Love the tone. Is the intonation flat just a bit above the 12th fret? I can't tell which string exactly. Maybe the B or high E? Other than that, love the look. Love the tone. I would be interested in hearing a similar model but with a cedar top......
@michaelarthur47642 жыл бұрын
Love your channel and your guitars look amazing! I have a question though …how did you make the decision on your headstock design? I’m drawn to headstock designs that accommodate more straight string pull that minimize tuning problems caused by binding at the nut.

That guitar is going to mature beautifully, Chris. It will have the quality of legend soon, as the inner soul and potential come into bloom. I just don't buy that cliche excuse, that "A new guitar always sounds tight and dry. It takes a long time for a guitar to open up..." Sorry, that's a cop-out, and I call BS on that. This brand-spankin'-new one of yours sounds like a million bucks right out of the starting gate. In my opinion, a brand new luthier-built guitar SHOULD sound great in the first few days. It should reveal its true character, even if it is still a green apple. If it does, you KNOW it's going to mature into a world-class instrument. Awe inspiring work, Chris. An awful lot of guitars don't sound half that good after five years of "opening up".
