Jay did talk about it in a video quite a few months back. I get the feeling he's been distracted by other projects recently. Agreed though, it would be nice to have an update, although he didn't seem overly positive about it last time it was talked about.

Yeah they tend to focus on Phil's cars a lot. Can't blame them, as they're epic, but would be nice to see how the E30 and mustang are doing. I'm also curious about the E36 M3...

I know laser aligning is preferred these days, but having been on Motorsport for over 40 years now, we still use "String Lines".BG Racing is popular, so is Ti Motorsport. Dead easy to set up, and accurate to the thickness of fishing line. Just my way of doing it.
@driftworks6 ай бұрын
Yeah string is good. This is just way quicker and easier to use.

This is really interesting. I've got the same issue on my wide arched 240z. When changing wheels to a wider offset and removing some spacers, it now tracks all over the place. I did fit 888's at the same time though. It will be good to see the wether your mods fix the issue.

@@driftworksis there any plan to sell the adapter to fit 997 calipers onto the BBI upright? I would love a set of PCCBs on my 964.
@driftworks6 ай бұрын
Unfortunately not. It's way to complex and you still have to shorten the heads of mounting bolts so I wouldn't be happy selling them to a customer.
@jakkitchener15116 ай бұрын
Phil, why not use a string kit? Surely it would be quicker for yourself instead of having to mess around with laser and calibration going out
@driftworks6 ай бұрын
This is now calibrated. I'll have no reason to distrust it unless it get's dropped. It's so much quicker to setup than string and you can watch adjustments rather than make an adjustment and check each time.

fit the wider 993 pieces in the narrow body mounting holes? off top of my head theres 30mm difference, if 993 20mm wider, that gives you 10mm over current setup.........but you'll need a 993 ARB
@driftworks6 ай бұрын
That's the wrong way. I need 10mm further out. That would be 10mm further in 👍

@@driftworks I mean if looking for an odd behavior is the goal here, most likely Tyre related, I would do a proper alignment at a good shop, then test the result. Ive done several alignments like this myself and for track it works good, but I Wouldn't trust it for ruling out issues on the street.

question: does this move not mess with the bumpsteer?
@driftworks6 ай бұрын
Not significantly. It was measured at absolute perfect bumpsteer after fitting the BBI knuckles. changing the inboard pivot point makes next to no differenc to bump steer or roll centre. I would put money on it still being 0mm gain over 50mm travel.
