I hope you found the videos on how to drill using a drill press, the information on them is very good. If you visit our store page at our website (www.gsg-art.com), there's a link to Amazon where you can get some drill bits for a really great price

Thank you for sharing all your videos. This one in particular will come in handy because one of my big projects is to make a wind chime with many many pieces that will need to have holes. I like your teaching techniques, by the way

I often wish that we could drill witout glass breaking so easily!

Very useful ... am going to try this today.

Next, I plan to get an inexpensive drill press that will sit in a tray that will hold water so I can more easily drill many holes. I don't know if it will work, but if it does, I'll put up a video.

I did this a couple days ago -- to drill holes in some stain glass I bought at a garage sale. I'm going to make chimes. This was a great video! I did it under water and angled my drill bit in until I had a good groove. I didn't break any!! Everything goes better when you know the right way to do it!! Thanks again!

Thanks for your comment. Make sure to view the video about using a grinder to drill a hole. This is the technique that will be most effective when drilling wind chimes.

I hope viewers will compare this video with the other on drilling a hole using a grinder. I wonder which technique would be the most useful.

David, does it matter what kind of stained glass? Are some glasses better/easier than others? Thank you.
@GommStainedGlass9 жыл бұрын
FriendofRamblinJack There are 10 different brittleness ratings with different types of stained glass, this is where a good carbide cutter is important because they are usually good for all 10 types (steel wheel cutters are good for window glass). I don't find that brittleness matters when drilling or grinding glass.

David Gomm, will these bits fit into a Dremel tool? (also, great place to find containers is "dollar" stores.)
@GommStainedGlass7 жыл бұрын
The bit might fit in a dremel tool, it will either fit or be just slightly too big. Thanks for your suggestion!

Can you use an ordinary drill bit rather than a glass tar bit?
@GommStainedGlass3 жыл бұрын
You need to use a diamond coated bit, the one in the video is a Glastar brand bit, but I've found some on Amazon which are inexpensive and work well, here is the url that will take you to the listing amzn.to/3y1qw0N If you click on that, it will take you to an amazon listing that we use to get back to it when we need to order more bits. A regular drill bit is made of steel which doesn't work on glass. Diamond coated bits work well and with a little practice you'll be able to make holes all day long.
