My experience in the derricks began 1974 on workover triples in the La. bayous. My experience derricks drilling began 1980. Of all my occupations, working derricks was my favorite. I'm "oilfield trash" and proud of if👍

When drilling directional racking back 3 stands 10 3/4" monel collars each more than 105' length. Each stand going in took me less 3 minutes. That derrick hand's got a lot learn. I worked derricks 6 yrs. All but 1 double (Ideco full view) were triples, inland drill barges. My favorite is the standard derrick. Anyway.

That was no collar. The 6 inch collar weighs 57 pounds per lineal foot, 3 hooked together roughly 100 feet long weighs 5700 pounds. You don't jack that to the back of the board, it was a 5 inch drill pipe

Jason A with a lift sub? huh
@perfdog15936 жыл бұрын
Jason A lol it’s a collar they come in different sizes idk why you think they only come in 6” collar. Another thing is they are on a work over rig so it’s a double not a triple. The Whole crew including the pusher might not know that a sash cord through the elevators could help him unlatch the collar a lot easier and he wouldn’t even need the rope to pull back with he would only need the rope to tie back the tbg and collars
