Now that was a totally interesting video Kim. What a rig !! We have a couple local well drillers here with similar (?) truck mounted rigs but this one is COOL !! I wonder if anyone has ever hit oil drilling a test hole. Heck Jed Clampett hit oil with a muzzle loader !!! Awesome video sir. Thanks man.

In the 30s some of oil wells drilled during the boom were less than 3000 ft

@@TripleTRanchAndSawmill I got a chuckle out of the late comment Kim. LOL. I do the same thing. When I find one or two that slipped by I still respond to them...So far anyway. I have no concept of oil well drilling, like the depth of the average well in a given area. No clue at all.

@@tractorman4461 when the ambient > 100F, good time to process comments. In west texas, we drill down vertical 7000’ and then turn horizontally for 10 to 15000’ in the “play”. So my grandfather’s well was producing from 200’ of play for 100 bbls oil / day. The modern unconventional well can make 2000 bbls / day. That’s how we became energy independent.

@@TripleTRanchAndSawmill Very interesting for sure. It's hard to think of how that's done and the horsepower required to drill that distance. That's close to 4 miles !! I DO know though that the modern rotary drilling head was invented by a local man and his business partner. They both became very wealthy very quickly. At least that's the popular story. He just passed last year at 85 and still worked 7 days a week at his well drilling and parts business.
