“touch her and i’ll kill you” - a golfer LMAOOOOO im cracking up at this

I hate in romances where they spend the first 80% making excuses to not be together, only for them for finally get together and date for a week, then they have the miscommunication and one character runs off and breaks it off. Like if they just acted like grownups and had a discussion it would have been resolved. Then the last two chapters they get back together and it’s true love and then the epilogue they have three kids
@jasperscornerrr10 ай бұрын
Me too especially because I'd much rather read a romance book about adults that doesn't feel like they're created with common teenage thought processes. I'm not gonna say they're bad and I've enjoyed some of them I just wish more romance others didn't follow that formula 😭

I feel like "enemies to lovers“ in romance books is usually more "hate to love" or "rivals to lovers" cause you really can’t have an enemy in your normal life..

@@ursulapebble7063 enemies basically means wanting to kill each other, which usually doesn‘t happen in romance books. Rivals however are possible, for example at your workplace

Romance is a valid book genre and people who read romance are absolutely 100% a reader! I don't like when people invalidate romance because romance is absolutely everywhere. Trillers often have mention of love and romance, classics are mostly romance, poetry can be about love. Everywhere you look, there is love and there is nothing wrong with it !

There are actually a bunch of different story structures, but in the west we only ever learn about the one type with rising action to the climax. Other cultures tend to favour other structures. It’s really cool

about the third-act break-up, that was my biggest fear when I read Icebreaker. They became a happy couple with like 150 pages left and i genuinely feared, there would be a third-act breakup. but the conflict was between stassie and her skating partner and nate was a super supportive and encouraging boyfriend. you can say what you want about icebreaker, i get it´s not for everyone, but i will take no criticism on its third-act conflict!

That's what I absolutely loved about Hannah Grace's writing and I can't wait to read her other books. I was WAITING for the miscommunication but I was so happy it didn't happen.

yeah i don’t think there was enough room in the book for a third-act breakup since every 10 pages was filled to the brim with god-awful, horrendous, way too descriptive smut 😭 fr one of the most traumatizing books i’ve ever read

At 10:10 I kind of agree. I've only read two Christina Lauren books but one of those was the famous Love and Other Words. I felt like the book was a little physical between the characters and it surprised me when I heard people say it was the deepest relationship they've read in a romance book. (Not hating on the book! I actually enjoyed it a lot while reading and would recommend!)

6:11 Hot take, I prefer 3rd person over 1st. I got into the Shadowhunter books as my first real reading for fun experience, and all are told in 3rd, and then Harry Potter, so when I got to 1st it was a bit jarring. Now I don’t differentiate in my mind either, but as a young teen, I did lol. As a writer now (for fun, unfortunately nothing published yet), I primarily write in 3rd person.

I feel like it's so common to hate on things that mainly women love and I think that's why the romance genre gets so much flack. There areso many people that only confine themselves to one genre, doing it doesn't make them "not a real reader" so the same thing should apply to people that solely want to read romance.

11:10 My grandmother dated my grandfather’s brother first 😂 If I’m not mistaken, the brother proposed and she said no. I never met my grandfather or his brother so I don’t know anything beyond that, but it’s a crazy story to hear. As far as I know, they were civil about it. Also, my aunt (Mom’s sister) dated my uncle (Dad’s brother) before my other grandmother disapproved of her and they broke up.

Lmao same des, I too would get the ick cause that should stay in the book and in our fantasies but I cannot come face to face with that😂 and I know it stems from our awkwardness and our overall reaction when receiving compliments in general lol like when a woman compliments you you don’t know what to say so you ignore it or you smile sheepishly with a “thank you” and when a guy compliments you you’re just like “oh thanks” and I’m like ughh
