Never seen it so empty. Guess you timed it just right as Brits cannot yet travel to Greece openly - no package holidays yet either - as they usually make for Zakynthos as one of the favoured islands. Looks great. UK should open travel on 23 July so expect Greece to receive a fair number therefter.

Think I took an boat excursion to get to shipwreck beach, which included visiting another island, blue caves and seeing sea turtles (which unfortunately, just out of season). Cost about 30euros over a decade ago. Definitely a great experience.

Make sure to visit Kedrodasos beach in south Chania. Its a bit of a ride but definitely worth it, im from Greece and its for sure the best beach i've ever visited. Also if you are into camping and hiking, really consider visiting Gavdos, a small island south of Crete. A unique experience there.

@@charlyperez1636 you can take the bus from Athens at the kifisos station (it takes 6 hours to arrive). The other option is the airplane. Zakynthos has flights from other countries too. To see the island I would suggest you to rent a car. I would also suggest you to book a room outside of the main town so you could have a beach in front of the hotel. I don't know the prices of the hotels and airbnbs in zakynthos but I think there is no difference
